I've met some truly mad Sunderland supporters .....

Me and my brother went from down south to watch the last game of the season, when we got relegated v Wimbledon. I know we took thousands , but it was a bit different for us 2 getting on a train jam packed wit relegation rivals Coventry on their way to London to play Spurs. We didn't have any colours on, and kept pretty quiet, as the train was rammed and we were just stood around the toilet section.
Nowt happened in the end, but got some dirty looks when everyone got to the tube ticket machine, and everyone was getting tickets for seven sisters or whatever, and we were getting ones to selhurst. Fans were all looking over your shoulder to see what you had to press.

Not a funny story, but another example, that no matter if we had 10 or 15 thousand fans down there (or anywhere) there would be stragglers like us who had to travel with the other mob, and others as well when playing in London. On a side note my best mate is a Chelsea fan, and i brought him to Sheff Weds away (Phillips double) and he has always respected our numbers since that day. We had another cracking following. His dad is getting on, but knows all the names of their mob Hickey etc He also says Sunderland was always a hard place to come up to, and said he'd got a few cracks up there.

Strangely, the the dad said the worst he's felt at a game was only a few years back in the Champions league away to Shalke (I think) He said it wasn't off the Germans, but on a train to the game with other Chelsea fans. The tain was packed with Chelsea and their group of about 8 were split up a bit, and a bit of a row started between his son in law and another Chelsea fan. Then some woman about 40 came up and threatened them saying she was running Chelsea youth, and when the train stopped, he said about 40 lads all got off with her and were up for a row. After some talk it got left, but later in the game, he said they were getting pointed out by the same group dotted about. Strange

I didn't start going till 1985 and didn't start going away till 1989. Travelling to the away games with the Durham and Sherburn bus they are some of the most loyal lads you'll ever meet. They always had your back no matter where we went.

Sherburn bus 70s and 80.s then with Wilkey - then spent 10 years running busses myself. I have every admiration for those who put themselves out especially when you have to arrange tickets now.

Anyone remember Tommy - used to be at all the aways down south early 90s (think he lived down there), had a gold tooth IIRC, bit of a stutter?

Well I will read it and thank you for your honesty.
Just been on Amazon to buy it, there are loads of books called Nemesis, can you give more details please.
By all accounts it's been discredited as a pile of sh*te written by an SAS wannabe.

Righto, am I buying it or not ?
I have done a bit if digging give it a miss as it seems you want a legitimate read and this is most likely made up bullshit. In my defence I read it over twenty years ago.Still a good read. Watch 50 dead men walking instead. As far as I'm aware that is legitimate.

I'm convinced that one has two (definite) other log ins and (possibly) three, but don't think Jardine's one of them.
Which log ins are these?

You'd think people could start off a new year without the same grudges and repeating drivel they've posted the previous year.

But Jardine, Five & Haway have all come on a decent thread, enjoyed by dozens of people, specifically to have a childish pop at me.

They do it on thread after thread but always twist if you call them obsessed.

But, to be fair, it inadvertently has a funny side ...... how on earth do Jardine & Haway almost always manage to 'like' each others posts within a few minutes

No matter what time of day or night, boom, straight there ....... could they be the same person I wonder.
Dunno why you're bringing me into it, I haven't had a pop at you at all this thread. I think it's an interesting thread and enjoyed reading parts of it, it's just a shame some are intent on glorifying violence which was almost always cowardly.

We played Millwall one game at RP and I was chatting with Wilkie outside The Roker End. He was hanging around waiting too see who turned up from Millwall along with another one or two lads. Up Millwall trundled, led by two of the biggest fuckers you have ever seen in your life. Boneheads, long black leather coats on. They looked frightening just walking up the street. I took one look and walked off towards the Main Stand. Didnt hang about too see what materialised.

After the game I walked round from The Main Stand and at the back of the RE met them all coming out. It was like the Cantina scene from Star Wars. Never seen such a straggly set of mean fuckers ever. 50 odd year old blokes with their grandsons who looked like extras from the musical Oliver. :)

Needless to say they walked unhindered down towards The New Derby.

Perhaps you haven't which would be rare but, if not, I'll happily apologise.

It may be the way you and Jardine seem to like each others posts so rapidly that caught my eye and the lack of contribution which isn't rare.

Perhaps you just don't have any stories and have never met actually met characters ...... if you have hoy them up.

BTW I haven't actually seen much 'violence glorification' tbh, just people having a laugh about matches they went to.

Who would you say is the worst culprit?

fao @Reiver @magcatcherhutch - top photo - Boam - no 5 is partly blocking the end/section where all the bother was iirc

Nice one mate, still makes me shudder looking at that ground.

Yes, that was the end and that match was on my birthday

By coincidence I knew Boam from his Mansfield days when he was a really hard lad to play against ..... we could never find a centre forward

Haven't seen Wilkie(y) since Twitter died - think he still goes but only home games - almost as rare as seeing Chips- think he's doing well for himself but its about 5 years since I last saw him.

Is the the Wilkie who lived in the Durham area, Langley Park iirc?

I have to say the Millwall supporters, at the Old Trafford semi-final, were the scruffiest bunch of tramps I've ever seen.

I couldn't imagine living amongst people like that.
