Must say I too am looking forward to seeing what Jennings and Richardson can bring to the fore. I kind of agree with the BBC that we might struggle but that's by no means an admission that we are a poor side. I see us as a side in transition and I'm delighted that the youngsters are getting a chance because we have some immense talent coming through.

I'd see a 5th place finish as a huge success, so with that in mind I think (hope) I'll be a little more patient if lads aren't scoring runs or aren't taking wickets. I reckon we've got rid of some deadwood over the winter and except for Harmison I think everyone left in our squad can offer something. I'm even willing to give Muchall another chance if he comes in at 6 and can score a few useful 50's when the chips are down

Oh and the weather over the last few days even seems to have perked up :-). Granted its still been cold but the sun and blue sky combination seems to be coming at just about the right time 8-)
Its definitely a transition period for the club and if they can hold their own in the CC for the next season or two that will reflect great credit on The Academy and Colly/Benks.

As for Muchall, my reading of this situation is that he will only appear in the Cc if someone dramatically loses form and for the limited overs stuff for which he seems far more suited.

It's the same side that finished last season except for Colly, Mutchy takes his place. Here's hoping the weather stays dry for all days.

Stoneman
Jennings
Richardson
Benks
Stokes
Muchall
Mustard
Borthwick
Thorp
Onions
Rushworth
As expected really. Borthwick is an interestingly case in point. Wonder how he'll fayre bowling leg spin in April!

The opening pair don't fill me with loads of confidence in terms of weighing in with big runs, they need to be able to kick on if they get starts to give the team a platform, can't rely on Colly and Benks all season.

Probably wont be a lot of turn until later in the game - which goes without saying. Borthwick is a special case though, even if we were playing on a concrete surface with a dogs ball he's worthy of a spot 8-). His fielding is excellent and he's easily the best number 8 in the league :-D

The club haven't bothered to remind people of the game today on the website.

No team news either

Things have been so secretive recently that I bet the players are practicing on the field an hour before the start not knowing which of them will make the starting XI

It seems I was given duff info on the team yesterday. Smith is playing instead of Muchy.

1. Mark Stoneman (23)

2. Keaton Jennnings (1)

3. Will Smith (2)

4. Dale Benkenstein (44) (capt)

5. Ben Stokes (38)

6. Michael Richardson (18)

7. Phil Mustard (19) +

8. Scott Borthwick (16)

9. Callum Thorp (36)

10. Chris Rushworth (22)

11. Graham Onions (9)

12. Mark Wood (33)

I watched the first 45 mins with the littleun, got home to Burnmoor with sun and blue skies and your telling me their offfor rain????

It surprised me too as there was a light shower where I am. I'm wondering if one of the umpires felt a spot and just didn't fancy standing out on the middle in the cold and called them in to the warm for the day.
