I agree that he needs to stick at it, but have no faith it will bring any benefits to SAFC. He just isn't good enough to play the way that Gus wants to. I wish him well though, he has never had anything other than a professional attitude.

I'm not exactly jumping for joy tonight myself but my knowledge of professional sport tells me the betting odds will work in his favour if he sticks with it. I don't think he'll ever be in the Lineker or SKP mode but he won't miss those chances indefinitely if he continues to get in those areas unmarked.

Let's be honest, even though the ball arrived slightly awkwardly he should've been able to adjust his body enough to scramble the ball over the line. If he gets into similar situations every game the ball will go in. It just will, even if it bounces off him or he miss cues it.

You are on a wind up, I'm out of this serious subject

This crack about betting odds and sticking with it - he's failed miserably at every club he's been at bar a stint in a dire league with one club.

How much longer does he have to stick with it before we give up?

He's shown absolutely nothing to indicate he can cut it im afraid

I remember he made a few mistakes and one howler in particular. Most players on the pitch made mistakes though but Jozy once again put himself under the magnifying glass.

This thread isn't entirely positive. It reflects a player who had a "reasonable" game in open play but snatched at an easy chance. Once again, i'll accept the professional odds that he'll net a few if he can continue getting open like that.

I'll try and support Rodwell when he makes it to the pitch. I expect more. I expect him to be match fit by now.
Fair do's. I would love Jozy to do well but he's had more than enough chances. He's been an awful signing.

Does your knowledge of sports extend to a knowledge of his goalscoring record in any decent standard he has played in?

1 goal in 9 games in Spain?
2 goals in 65 games in England?
1 goal in 12 games in Turkey?

He's easily the worst striker ive ever seen play for sunderland.

In fact, he worse than any player ive seen play for is full stop.

He doesn't have one positive aspect to his game. He's big and cumbersome but weak as piss. He can't judge the flight of a ball so constantly misses getting on the end of passes. He can't jump. He's slow. He has a very poor attitude and his finishing is beyond ridiculous.
Perfect summary.

Everyone wants Jozy to do well. That miss turned a reasonable game into what was perceived as a poor/bad game in one stroke. If it had gone in i think people would've said he had a decent/good game.
I'm saying the miss didn't really reflect his overall contribution.

I'll say again, i'd be much more worried if he didn't get chances at all. That is a much bigger sign of a player out of his depth.

Next game Jozy plays, how about you cheer him on, make up a cool song about him? get behind him, fly some American flags, make a 20foot banner of his face, you know... do what supporters are ment to do. Support him!

Cant wait until he bangs one in next weekend at the landfill to see the reactions of you fickle 2 faced bastards.

I totally agree, it makes very poor reading. I'd accept him getting one chance a game like today if he can continue to get open.
He isn't a great poacher at the best of times but to make things look even worse he often appears to be an unlucky poacher. Random deflections and ricochets never seem to drop right on a plate, there's always some slight adjustments to be done.

This bit of optimism is based on what exactly?

Shoots himself in the arse?

We might. But it's unlikely that Altidore will score.

Look at the Cardiff chance last season when it came back off the post for one. On face value it looked like a tap in, to a Lineker it would've been, but there was adjustment required.
Today was another where slight adjustment was necessary.
He never seems to get a truly straight forward tap in to build his confidence.

That sums him up perfectly IMO. The bloke is a disgrace. Jozy that is not TOTG like.

Straight forward tap in? Behave yourself, he's a joke, simple as that.
