Damn that was so crap and anti-climatic. A clean finish out of nothing with no twist.

Was holding out hope for a rock interference...even after the logo appeared...just feel 'meh' after that. Yesterday with Austin felt like maniaCopy and paste from the last few matches it was obvious who was winning as well, shite ending.
I expected what I got from this match, we all knew Roman was winning and it would just be Spear Spear superman punch German suplex kimaru etc from what I’ve read The rock isn’t happening (he wants it to happen) because of tv/film contracts preventing him doing anything physical but being in Hollywood next wrestlemania is the perfect time to do it if they can agree on something.

And that's a major issue. After hearing Highway to Hell on the radio yesterday decided to watch the last 4 matches of Summerslam 98 (Shamrock/Owen, NAO/Mankind and Kane, Rock/HHH, Austin/Undertaker). I'm not going to compare quality of matches etc between then and now, but it felt everything they did back then was an attempt to elevate someone. Shamrock wins, looks a beast. Could challenge further down the road and only made his debut a year before. Owen loses but looks strong. HHH wins the ladder match, gets the IC belt, looks a star. Rock loses, looks a superstar, and is elevated into the main event scene winning the title a couple of months later. Rock and HHH were treading the mid card only 18 months before.Enjoyed the show again. Pat McAfee is the most over superstar in the company![]()
Any man with two hands has a fighting chance. And that's a major issue. They 'elevated' McAfee (a former NFL punter non-wrestler beating a trained wrestler) and then jobbed him out to a 76 year old. They've had Reigns and Lesnar beat everyone (Drew, Lashley etc) for months. Now Lesnar is gone, who is Reigns next challenger bar a rehash of old boring feuds. Freshest would be Cody, but could anyone believe him going over Reigns?
I was really surprised with the quality of match in the Logan Paul match and also really surprised by how entertaining the Knoxville vs Zayn match was too.WM Review:
Night One:
Nakamura/Boogs vs Usos: Non starter of a match unfortunately because of Boogs injury. Luckily we had 3 very capable performers left to carry it to a steady ending and were capable of changing the finish on the fly. Would have liked to see what they had built up for the finish but wasn't to be.
2/5 due to unfortunate circumstances and hope Boogs heals up quickly.
Drew vs Corbin: Better than I thought it would be if I'm honest. I was disappointed with the crowd to the kick out of the EOD mind. It's unbelievably protected and with no one kicking out of it since he started, I went bloody ballistic at home. Overall though it was a way to keep Drew relevant through WM in the hope that he will be back at the very top of the card soon after.
3/5
Mysterios vs Miz/Logan Paul: As much as I don't like the guy personally, Logan Paul was the star of this match. The 3 Amigos he did to rile up the crowd was absolute perfection, especially the way he waited to build up the crowd before each hip swivel. Think the right team won in the end, however I didn't expect the SCF by Miz after the match and was a good little plot twist.
3.5/5
Bianca vs Becky: Brilliant match from start to finish. The throwback to Summerslam with Becky almost winning it straight from the start was great and Becky's timing throughout the match, complimented by Bianca's raw athleticism and speed made it a joy to behold at times.
4.5/5
Seth Rollins vs 'Mystery Opponent': The worst kept secret in WWE finally happened at WM. CODY RHODES IS BACK! Love that they let him keep his AEW character and entrance music. The match itself, while it wasn't an instant classic in my opinion, wasn't too far off. Seth played his part perfectly, which isn't surprising given that he is a once in a generation talent. The only downside to the match was that I was hoping Cody would deliver a new finishing move, because Damien Priest does it better than he does and looks like it hurts more. I'd love to see the Cody Cutter used as a finisher from now on, but highly doubt it. The Bionic Elbow tribute to his Dad as well was perfection.
4.5/5
Charlotte vs Ronda: To me, this was a bit of a 'meh' match. It was unfortunate for them that they were probably at the worst spot on the card, going on after the 2 phenomenal matches beforehand, but it still lacked the physicality I was expecting between these two. I also think the wrong person won and I don't really care about the thought of a 2nd go at this during the next PPV, which was alluded to after the match.
2.5/5
Kevin Owens vs Stone Cold Steve Austin: WOW! It was played absolutely brilliantly from start to finish, with KO winding the crowd up firstly and making every disparaging remark possible about SCSA. Then Austin coming out to a HUMUNGOUS pop and then Owens to challenge Austin was just perfection. The match itself, if looked in relation to the other matches, would have been slow and clunky, but due to the nostalgia, it being Austin and it being his first (and probably last match in 19 years) made it a spectacle not to be missed! The fact that he took that bump from the suplex to the concrete as well astounds me and the look on KO's face on the ATV was just fantastic! Trading Stunners at the end was 'stunning' as well and happy to see Austin get that last moment and going out on a high. Magical moment for anyone who grew up in the Attitude Era.
5/5
Night Two:
RK-Bro vs Alpha Academy vs Street Profits: Everything that the Smackdown Tag Title match wasn't, this was. I know it was the injury which made the other match difficult, but this was frenetic, fast paced action from start to finish. I still can't get over how much potential Montez Ford has and I mustn't be the only one who sees his as a future main eventer. The right team won here again, although when Gable Steveson came into the ring, I was desperately hoping for him to align himself with the SP and attack Orton and Riddle after the bell. They would make an epic faction and be a good way to introduce Steveson to the WWE.
4/5
Lashley vs Omos: Better than I expected actually, with Lashley picking up the win. Yes Omos can be slow and ponderous, however he seems to be finding his feet a little bit and I'm starting to see small improvements from him in what was easily the best match I've seen him put on so far. Lashley is just a specimen and will be thrown back into the main event scene sooner rather than later.
2.5/5
Knoxville vs Zayn: Anyone who is only a fan of technical wrestling would have despised this match, but I loved it. It was slapstick comedy at it's best and with all the gimmicks but Sami, as always, played his part to perfection. The brief cameos of all the other Jackass guys were done superbly and was a good laugh before the more serious stuff to come afterwards.
3/5 for giggles alone
Sasha/Naomi vs Rhea/Liv vs Zelina/Carmella vs Natalya/Shayna: Some decent spots as part of the match, but other than that, felt like it was just another filler match. Since Bayley/Sasha lost the titles at WM a few years back, these titles now just feel like props to keep the rest of the women who aren't in the main event scene something to do. There is a lot of genuine talent in that match as well so hope to see some of them back in the main event very soon.
2.5/5
Edge vs AJ Styles: The biggest disappointment of the two nights for me. It was never going to be a fast paced match, but for two people who can tell a very compelling story in the ring, this fell flat and didn't give me the feels that I thought it would do. I can kind of compare it to Styles/Nakamura for the title a few years back. Lots of hype that didn't truly deliver on it. The twist at the end and Priest aligning himself with Edge is something to look forward to going forward though, so not all bad.
2.5/5
Sheamus/Ridge Holland vs Woods/Kingston: Genuinely feel for all of the great competitors in this match. 100 seconds of action and almost felt like a squash match for the New Day to lose. I know their match got cut from Saturday night, but for it to go down like this was hugely disappointing for all of them.
N/A due to shortness of match
Pat McAfee vs Austin Theory: First of all I'd like to say this. MCAFEE IS GOLD IN EVERYTHING THAT HE DOES! The entrance to Seven Nation Army with the cheerleaders was immense. I don't know if it was Theory's job to make Pat look like a star, or the other way around in this match, but it was really fun and good to watch from the outset. I know it is WM and the 'attraction' should go over the wrestler, however I think this would've been better to see a Theory win in this match to build him up. The aftermath to the match and the shenanigans that proceeded it were pointless IMO and Vinny Mac 'going over' Mcafee was stupid. However it was saved by Stone Cold coming out and dishing stunners all around, first to Theory who oversold it to perfection. Followed by the BEST STUNNER IN HISTORY to Vince, which was just comedy gold at its best. Followed that by a Stunner to McAfee was brilliant, even though everyone seen it coming. The quick cut to McAfee drinking some beer whilst outside the ring as well was just brilliant.
3.5/5 for match.
Roman v Brock: I honestly don't know what to make of 'THE BIGGEST MATCH IN WRESTLEMANIA HISTORY'. At times I actually enjoyed it, especially the spear straight into the Kimura Lock, which was timed to absolute perfection, but as is normally the case when these two wrestle, it just felt like a spamming match. Same 3/4 moves by both over and over again until someone eats the pin. The part that I enjoyed most about the match, which quite a few people didn't by the sounds of things, was that it was a clean finish to the match with no interferences, barring a finger on the ropes to help Roman reach them when in the Kimura. It wasn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but served it's purpose in crowned a new Unified WWE Universal Champion.
Overall I'll give the first night a 4.5/5 due to the returns and some really good matches. Second night I will give a 3/5 or maybe a 3.5/5 for some very decent action and laughs in between quite a lot of MEH. Looking forward to watching RAW tonight though and Cody with a live mic will be brilliant.
Completely agree. Don't get me wrong, they weren't wrestling clinics by any means, but they both had entertainment and a bit of shock value that made them really enjoyable to watch.I was really surprised with the quality of match in the Logan Paul match and also really surprised by how entertaining the Knoxville vs Zayn match was too.
I’d had no interest in the build up and to be honest when they both started I wasn’t even paying attention. By the end I found myself really enjoying both matches.
As ever it is a reminder to take these things as they come rather than going into a match thinking it’s going to be shit.
I disagree on the first one for sure. The worst parts of the show, like the Charlotte/Ronda and Smackdown Tag Title match, were a little bit meh at worst. It also had special moments which pushed it into the special category for me.enjoyed the first night, nowt special but was decent.
Night two was utter drivel, Vince doing what he got rid of his own son for.
They were meant to be on night one too but cut for time constraints?I don't think the New Day match was bad booking, it's a very slow build-up towards a faction feud with the hope of Big E returning whilst integrating Pete Dunne into the main roster - I'm still calling him Pete Dunne because I refuse to call him Butch
