Wrestling - Part 3

On the whole Cody Rhodes situation, like I’ve said many times good luck to him I think he’s great, I’m happy he’s got a big pay day out of wwe as Tony khan clearly didn’t feel like he was worth 3million a year or he’d still be in AEW.

Having said all of this I think WWE desperately needed someone like Cody a great promo who can build and tell a story in the ring from what I’ve listened to today apart from Cody doing a great promo the rest of Raw was a dumpster fire as usual with semi rematches and feuds continuing no one wants to see also WTF HAVE THEY DONE TO ELIAS? HOLY SHIT.

Now compare this to aew and I can see why Khan didn’t feel like parting with 3milllion on Cody, he isn’t as big as Danielson, Omega, Moxley, Punk and I’m even going to throw MJF in there, they have numerous talents who can do what Cody does some on more money like I’ve just mentioned, some on less like Malkai Black, Darby, FTR, etc.

Tribalism especially in wrestling is way over the top, people less than two month ago were saying Cody is shit because he was in AEW now he’s being worshipped by the same people who only watch wwe same goes for people who only watch AEW now think he’s a Judas because he went back to wwe it reminds me of the whole Xbox/PlayStation arguments years ago at the end of the day each company wants your money so why people try to defend these organisations in beyond me. If they do something good they should be praised for it, if they do something ridiculous or bad they should be called out on it and not defended because your favourite company can do no wrong.

Enjoy what you like, don’t watch what you don’t like it’s that simple, I like to listen to podcasts about raw simply because I see it as comedy value but I won’t watch it as I think it’s terrible, right I’ve went totally off subject 😂Cody is class, it’s his life, let him make his own choices.

Quite enjoyed Mania both nights on the whole, despite the build being poor again. I remember the build for 31 being a shocker but when we got the actual show in Santa Clara, we had an absolute ball and the card delivered. Similar vibes for this one, despite not attending this year.

The Elias thing? I can't even begin to think how dumb that is.

Cody has traditionally been in the meh camp for me but good on him making that coin.

Been a bit of a darling for years, but I've never got it. How is he a "nightmare"? Certainly not as a babyface! They have to turn him into an evil, psychotic heel, surely?

Said he wouldn’t ever turn heel, I honestly thought like everyone else it was just a slow build to him eventually doing it in AEW but maybes he actually doesn’t and won’t do it, I know one thing the fans will get on his back if he is the same character as in AEW because everyone was desperate for him to go heel.

He's a safe pair of hands, competent, but that's about it for me. The NJPW, ROH, All In/AEW certainly gave him that darling tab but aye I never really got into him.

Would be interested to see if he'd go heel given he was apparently dead set against it in AEW when it was the most natural thing for him there.

I will say this about him, he's absolutely terrific with the fans outside the ring. Came across wonderfully when I saw him at the ROH fan fest in NOLA in 2018.

The Edge stable has potential. Rhea has to be a shoe-in for this. Balor could slot in and it would be give him something to do

I really liked Cody in his WWE days pre Rhodes Scholars stuff. Was always given a raw deal because he was young and looked undersized compared to your big guys so wasn’t as marketable for them. I think he is now

Imagine if you were playing a drink game for WrestleMania? Everytime the word stupendous was mentioned you had to take a shot. You'd be pissed by the first fight.

Cody was a mid carder in AEW. Not sure why WWE are falling over themselves about this signing.
He was largely the promotions "special attraction" throughout his time though. For instance, always coming out through the centre of the set, whereas everyone else came out of the sides.

Wasn't that more by design, booking himself in that one and done for the AEW title, then more or less taking himself out of the top of the card picture.

For WWE they'll see it as a scalp taking an EVP from 'those upstarts'. He'll be treading water again soon enough I would think.

Longer term it could be a good thing in some respects with anyone from AEW thinking of making a switch having more bargaining power - MJF for one.

Personally I would be absolutely amazed if MJF ever ended up in WWE they wouldn’t let him be himself for starters, he would effectively get buried into oblivion similar to EC3 did and yeah I know he always mentions WWE in interviews but he’s clearly just working people as a heel. Like you say they need to treat Cody amazingly because if they don’t I can’t see many leaving AEW to join WWE.

Agree in that I would be VERY surprised to see him make the jump (and they would water down what makes him a great heel) but he's young enough and would surely listen to an offer.

Mind you its pro wrestling - expect the unexpected I guess ha!

Vince McMahon is the ultimate arsehole employer. Someone who'll haul folk over the coals over the pettiest things but when he makes colossal fuck-ups, it's all jokes.
I’ve always enjoyed when people complain about him constantly then you get the same people bowing to him when he makes his entrance 😂😂 absolutely mental

Danhausen has only been on TV a couple of weeks and he is already Orange Cassidy level stale.

That segment he did with Hook on Rampage was absolutely aids
