World Cup Thread

No I don't, I know they have to cross  I'm laughing at the person who thinks by the time the ball gets to the stumps that Stoke could've turned then ran the full length. It's fairly obvious that wasn't the case.

Edit: England won it fair and square.

This.

What I actually said was that Stokes had barely turned. Not what you claimed I said. However, I appreciate my comment is wholly inaccurate.

Similarly, you said they'd crossed. That is also inaccurate.

I agree wholeheartedly that England deserved to win

You could say New Zealand were fortunate to finish top four having lost their last three and beaten by Pakistan

You could also say they'd done the hard work already and were looking at the semi-final. Did they have a must win game?
As it turned out no

I find your posting a little strange regarding this win. You appear to be looking for any slight thing to belittle the achievement

We beat New Zealand, India and Australia to qualify, all potential knockout games. That alone deserves the cup

I honestly feel like although our name is on the trophy, it's not a satisfactory way to do it, winning 7 and losing 3, and "winning" the final by whatever is under the skin on your teeth, if even that, especially after all the hype.

It would have been nice to do it in proper style, on home soil for the 5th time, without any doubt over whether we even won the final properly. We didn't actually beat NZ.

Glenn Maxwell (far left) isn't exactly chuffed when we won it

Indian twitter is also seething. Been thinking about this all day and the only way it could have been better is if we'd beaten India/Australia like that instead of NZ - the fall out would have been immense

The Indian meltdown is beautiful. In complete dribble mode on twitter.

Although part of me deep down agrees a little with you, the biggest part of me couldn't give a flying fuck how we won.

As a nation we seem to specialise in either f***ing it up when it's all seemingly going our way, having terrible luck or being cheated.

Both sides knew the rules going into not only the game but also the super overs and for the first time I can remember through luck, skill and serious balls we are world champions.

Personally I'm just going to enjoy the moment
