World Cup Thread

Boil yer heed. A win is a win.

It still wasn't a wide.

Look, you get the luck sometimes in sport. Maradona won the World Cup in 86 with ludicrous luck and dubious calls. Does anyone say he doesn't deserve it, or that his quite obvious genius didn't light up the World Cup? Does anyone think Argentina weren't the best team in that tournament? No.

Same for England, essentially. They deserve it based on the whole tournament and the last four years. Take the four sides who went through to the semis - England had the best record, the only team to beat all the other three at least once.

Maradona wasnt luck it was cheating.

Lancashire Cricket on Twitter

Glenn Maxwell (far left) isn't exactly chuffed when we won it

Indian twitter is also seething. Been thinking about this all day and the only way it could have been better is if we'd beaten India/Australia like that instead of NZ - the fall out would have been immense

I agree with this. I actually feel quite bad for New Zealand, and would have much preferred a more sporting way to settle the tie (although I don’t think the wide was a wide therefore justice was served in my eyes). However I cannot abide India so would be laughing until next year if this happened against them instead of New Zealand

The Indian meltdown is beautiful. In complete dribble mode on twitter.
Did I miss something with India? We’re they just pissed because they think they should have been in the final or something more? You would have thought they’d be rooting for the team that didn’t put them out in the semis like

Did anyone hear Pietersen being interviewed on Talk Shite Drive? Couldn't answer any question without referring to his own career and how he played all around the world

MR: "So Kevin, do you think the IPL has had an impact on ODI Cricket?"
KP: "(effected effeminate voice) Yes for sure, when I was playing all over the world in the IPL, The big Bash, in South Africa I was playing with these guys and seein g the pressure situation every few days..."

MR: "Jofra Archer. Wow, what a start he's had, what a player"
KP: "I've played with Jofra. Played with him and against him and I could see before anyone else that he was something special"

MR: "How has the ODI game changed? How have England changed"
KP: "In 2010 I was on the train with Eoin Morgan and we talked about how we were the only good players we had........."

:lol::lol:

Also, Alan Brazil referred to Jofra Archer as Joffrey Archer

Bit off topic but who cares. Sister just been round. Not into cricket at all and no interest in the final or that we won. However an Australian has just started at the vets practice where she works and said she never understood why I hated them much. Until she started working with this bloke. An absolute arse apparently :lol:Welcome to the club at last little sis. Probably shaves of dog's bollocks with sandpaper

Hate us. Think it's something to do with Clive of India.... And that's not Clive Radley.

The majority of the stuff I've seen on twitter posted by Indians is ignorant drivel. Claiming Stokes deliberately cheated and should have demanded that the overthrows got scratched off. ICC changed the rules to hand the trophy to England etc.

Dribbling fucktards.

Bathing in the salty tears of bitter Indians and Aussies is the cherry on top of the massive cake.

Although part of me deep down agrees a little with you, the biggest part of me couldn't give a flying fuck how we won.

As a nation we seem to specialise in either f***ing it up when it's all seemingly going our way, having terrible luck or being cheated.

Both sides knew the rules going into not only the game but also the super overs and for the first time I can remember through luck, skill and serious balls we are world champions.

Personally I'm just going to enjoy the moment

Very much this for me.

I was pleased that we didn't have to do the whole 'lads showed some bottle, unlucky in the end, blah, blah'

Fuckin bellend.

Day 2 and I'm still high as a kite. Currently listening to the Tuffers and Vaughan show from last night. They're going through the last 3 overs ball by ball with aggers commentary. Brilliant stuff

I hope everyone has seen the fans vid on this thread. Incredible coverage of the super overs
