Me neither, retired last Friday, I worked last year on Christmas day and it's a twat, not only does it spoil your Christmas, but it fucks up the families too.
Congrats and enjoy Teed me owld mucker.

Most over rated day ever if you don't have kids. Don't like Turkey, everything is shut and the telly is shite.

Off this year for first time in 4 years. I'd happily go to work.
:(

Most places I have worked offer triple time or 3x +an extra holiday on top.

Still has never been attractive enough like but think from now on if the offer was there I'd snap their hands off.

I can't f***ing wait to bail out of this job now like, I'm proper jealous of you yer twat with yer nee Xmas and bank hols. 4 years to go then I can get a bit pension and go back on the tools full time.. I'm seriously at the point where I'll be f***ing gutted if we win the pension appeal and I have to work an extra 3 and a half years.. I've had enough. Sick of the nightshift, shit pay, getting cut to fuck, just lost another bod off the trucks this morning. It's getting f***ing stupid now.
We don’t like the way it is because we compare it to the times where we were young and having fun.
I was tired of the unsocial hours and less tolerance to the shite. We have made lovely plans for Christmas with people coming round and having nice times without looking at the clock.

Not got the little one till the 27th so i'm gonna work might as well feel shite and be getting paid for it than sat at home on me own. Glass half full though i'll have a class day with the family on the 27th our little fake Christmas.

Never have, never will. Respect to anybody who does and I'd happily buy any one of them a pint. But I will be watching the kidsnooen their presents, drinking and cooking this Christmas before settling down with a G&T made with more ice than sank The Titanic.

Really? Even for those without kids it is a day off when everything is closed, a day when you can sit back and relax without too many external pressures. If you go out for a walk or anything, everyone is in good spirits, most people say 'good morning' etc. I think the shops close on Easter Sunday but you don't get that laid back spirit and general happiness you do at Christmas.

I hate the over commercialism of it, and I really struggle to know what to buy people while knowing they will be racking their brains for me, so I do find the run-up a bit stressful. Then it comes to the day itself where the kids are excited then I have the family round for a big meal. The kids usually play with the grandparents while me and the wife have a few drinks and play some games with her brother and sisters. Then get the kids to bed and sit down to a film while we eat a couple of sarnies made from the best bits of the Christmas dinner. A couple of days later I head up to my parents, spend time with them, my sister, her kids and dogs, have another big family meal or two and do it all again. I love it myself.

Worked Xmas day and boxing day 15:15 to 22:30 at Northern Powergrid when all the floods happened in York, Leeds and Halifax areas, it was absolute bedlam. Also worked 22:30 to 8:11 on NYE.

The worst shift to work was Xmas Eve nights. It was the worst time to have a powercut. You wouldn't believe how many people have thousands of pounds of M&S food in the freezer and turkeys in the oven.

The amount of xmas's we got blamed for ruining man. The Grinch had nowt on us.

Worked 6 or 7 Christmas Days in pubs in my younger days. Always enjoyed them until the last few, everyone was in a good mood and there was a real atmosphere about the place. Also spending a few hours with mates who worked there.

Worked 3 in an airport and they were hell on earth. Which selfish twats want to fly on Christmas Day? There were always 2-3 Tenerife flights when some people had received tickets as surprise Christmas presents!?! Most people were in foul moods and it was generally depressing. Remember speaking to the pharmacist in Boots whose shift allowance was paying for a Caribbean Holiday - she was the happiest person there that day!!
