Hell of a weekend wasn't it? I had such a good time i didn't even miss not being at the stadium for the greatest occasion in my lifetime as a sunlun fan.

Don't remember seeing anyone with a home shirt on but i had an safc bucket hat on Thursday/friday and an away top on Saturday/sunday and got a lot of love. I couldn't get enough signal to be sure so i knew we won but didn't know we got into europe for definite until a mag telt us 🤣

I personally think it's the self entitlement and the thinking they are the best fans in the world that rankles. Having said that, they always come to Hillsborough in numbers and there has never been any bother to be fair.

I thought the animosity between them and Villa was because Villa sent them down with Shearer in charge and really took the piss.
 
Play footy in York and 4 Villa fans play regular, one of the lads is in his 50’s and says lots of Villa fans dislike the Skunks because of the way they go on about being loved around the world and thinking they’re Billy Big Club, good set of lads 👍

Had my home shirt on and after the match I was stopped by dozens - I mean LOADS - of people who congratulated me and said 'I'm Villa, and we hate the Mags'.
Obviously I didn't disagree with them, but each Villa fan said the same thing. (The festival is near Brum, so there was a lot of Villa about.)
Is there some back story on this rivalry?

Also stopped by loads of other fans who all said along the lines of how pleased they were for us, because they like our fans. Which is nice to know.
Ended up spending an hour or so with a Charlton fan reliving the 98 final over a few pints.

Thought everyone hates the fkrs apart from themselves, well, maybe the plastic ones might hate them more this season and latch on to some other sport like tiddly winks or some shit to follow next season?? 😆😆😆 F. T. M.
 
I'm a Villa fan and to be honest there isn't that much hatred toward Newcastle. What there is, is hysterics after seeing their reaction to a few flags which seemed to rile them up. So more came and they got more riled up, and we kept just on laughing at their reactions, so continued with it. I'd argue there's always been more of an affinity with Sunderland because we traditionally the original big boys, and your fans tend to be more, erm ,'rounded' shall we say.

The other thing is that everything we've done or are trying to over the past few seasons have only counted, or have had warnings attached, based on what's happened or is happening at Newcastle. They qualify for the CL and have a mare in the league the following season and we kept being told that its very difficult to try and manage a squad of our size and juggle a league campaign as well as Europe because Newcastle couldn't. Except we finished 4th and got to the semi-finals of the Conference League. Because of that we qualified for the CL and because Newcastle struggled with it the season before and that they finished outside of European qualifying places in the league all we heard is that we would also struggle. Again, except that we didn't. 6th in the league and quarter-finals of the Champions League. Then the press obsess over them again and how unfair it is that they can't spend money which is why they finished 12th (or wherever), whilst again, we finish 4th and win the Europa.

It just seems to be a reluctance from the media to mention us without having Newcastle for some reason in the same breath. Fk em.
 
Sunderland and Villa lads got on, on away trips with England and their wider fanbase probably realise the arrogance of our friends up the road who all-but universally regard themselves as a bigger club than Villa, which is ludicrous.
My Villa-supporting mate isn’t a massive fan of them.

There is a very nice painting hanging up in our foyer of us playing your lot and I think it’s the oldest one of its kind! It really is class and worth a look if you’re up our way next season 👍🏻 As for the gift that keeps on giving, they will be in a fight in the league of their own. No not for a European place but a relegation one and yeah, fk em mate🫡 F. T. M.
