Why do Villa hate the Mags?

Just got back from Bearded Theory festival, top laugh.
Had my home shirt on and after the match I was stopped by dozens - I mean LOADS - of people who congratulated me and said 'I'm Villa, and we hate the Mags'.
Obviously I didn't disagree with them, but each Villa fan said the same thing. (The festival is near Brum, so there was a lot of Villa about.)
Is there some back story on this rivalry?

Also stopped by loads of other fans who all said along the lines of how pleased they were for us, because they like our fans. Which is nice to know.
Ended up spending an hour or so with a Charlton fan reliving the 98 final over a few pints.

Nah its renowned that Villa dislike Newcastle.

They always have banners up against them like “Sob on the tyne” when they got relegated under Shearer, then “Sob on the tyne again” when they got relegated about ten years ago

Some people just see through their charade they put on, pretending they are something unique and deserve sympathy that they have won fuck all for most of their history, Villa seem to see right though it.

I think it could be the fact that the Mags believe they are one of world's biggest teams and look at clubs like Villa as being smaller than them.

The mags are a bit like Coventry. They act like bellends with all the bigger clubs to try and faux a rivalry.

They do it with Everton, Liverpool and Manchester United. Where they arrogantly claim these clubs are their “proper rivals”.
