Why do Villa hate the Mags?

I’ve got mates around here who are fairly evenly divided between the big four North West clubs and surprisingly Bolton. The Bolton fans are not arsed about them in the slightest. But all the rest dislike them because of this self appointed best fans in the world shite. Especially because they are all old enough to remember the crowds pre Keegan. What makes them a better fan than anyone else is what gets on people’s tits.
That’s a fair point. What is also a fair point is those of us who went prior to the Keegan years don’t think, or spout that shite.
I recall many away days at places like Oldham, Barnsley, Cardiff and many others where there were no more than 1000 in attendance.
Also vividly remember crowds of 20,000 at SJP.

One of my mates is a Villa fan and he’s mentioned how much they hate the mags.

Basically they relegated the mags and the mags blamed them for their own relegation and since then they’ve hated Newcastle.
That day, the day of the Ant and Dec banner, VILLA certainly did not relegate Newcastle. Abject performances leading up it then, in a must win, showing not one iota of urgency or attacking intent relegated Newcastle. Mad all the worse by it being an own goal.
I worked with a lad from Shrewsbury who moved up here because of football. Had no family connection to the area, supported Newcastle and had a badge tattooed on his leg.
Only response to that would be “Why. Why would anyone do that”…. Each to their own.

Just got back from Bearded Theory festival, top laugh.
Had my home shirt on and after the match I was stopped by dozens - I mean LOADS - of people who congratulated me and said 'I'm Villa, and we hate the Mags'.
Obviously I didn't disagree with them, but each Villa fan said the same thing. (The festival is near Brum, so there was a lot of Villa about.)
Is there some back story on this rivalry?

Also stopped by loads of other fans who all said along the lines of how pleased they were for us, because they like our fans. Which is nice to know.
Ended up spending an hour or so with a Charlton fan reliving the 98 final over a few pints.
Because they’re *****

On X I constantly see some Newcastle fans argue with virtually everybody. Man Utd fans, Liverpool fans, Everton fans, Villa fans… nobody likes the mags. I think it stems from the mags thinking they’re top 4 world beaters and “everyone’s 2nd favourite club” where in reality they are mid table mediocrity backed by a murder state.

He was a strange individual. He told that many porkies that it may not have been the real reason for him moving. Probably left a trail of dead bodies behind him in Shrewsbury.

The mags rub a lot of people the wrong way. Same way Spurs do- deluded, arrogant, entitled. It's been that way for some time. The sight of the daft twats celebrating being taken over by a murderous regime by dancing around with tea towels on their heads on national television hasn't helped.

What we need to do is take heed of this when other supporters say nice things about us and take it with good grace. There’s nowt worse than a set of supporters going on about how class they are -show don’t tell.

Great festival mate - this is the first year I've missed in ages. I was gutted, but meant I could get to the game yesterday @ SOL so all good. How was it?

My Villa supporting mates hate the Mags deluded behavior, in particular the belief that supporters of other clubs love the 'toon army' ( ) as they are such great fans, great banter, great support and somehow think they are everybody's 'second team':eek:

Villa see them the same way we do ;)

I worked in Birmingham for a few years. I still pop down to see lads I used to work with. The majority of all clubs can’t stand the skunks. A Villa lad I worked with hates the skunks more than any Sunderland fan I’ve ever met.To answer the OP it’s because they are arseholes. I’ve never met anyone with a good word to say about them. I spent a lot of time with mates in Liverpool in late 80s early 90s and remember a Liverpool fan saying to me he hated the bastards. Not just because he knew me but the arrogance of them under keegan.

Us
Boro
Villa
Man utd
Liverpool
Everton

All hate the scummy twats
West Ham
Shrewsbury absolutely adore the mags for some odd reason.
As do Forest?
Truth be told, l think deep down the mags hate themselves. Sold their souls and club for a tyrannical states murderous money. Footballs Faustian Pact. Fear and loathing on the banks of the Tyne ….
Do you really think that the majority of the scum fans have the intelligence to even have a clue the knars
