In lieu of a good summation of events in this post ^^^^, I think we can all agree that things are looking up for Sunderland, and the first port of call should be increasing white collar workers in the city centre. The Vaux site represents a great opportunity to get people to spend money in the city centre and the more people with disposable income the more leisure facilities will improve in time. Oh and the Fat Buddha is mint even if they haven't filed down the corners so it doesn't look boxy.At the end of the day we've been let down massively by the powers that be. Aside from our magnificent coastline, which in my opinion has been massively underutilized for decades now, the one thing Sunderland had going for it was its industrial heritage on a river that could and should have been developed to preserve that history.
These clowns have overseen the tearing down and razing of every last reminder of what made Sunderland great. How anyone who has any real love and pride in this City can forgive them for that is beyond me.
Plus we've always got the cable cars from the Vaux site over to newly developed Sheepfolds leisure site in a few years to look forward to. Haway Sunlun.
