Underrated Fruit and Veg

I never see Kohl Rabi in the shops and it grows really easy over here and tastes a cross between cabbage and turnip. Why are things not popular here when they are all over Europe?

I prefer it raw, either grated or thinly sliced in salads.

That said, I prefer most veg raw to cooked.

I love redcurrants, normally only see them used for decoration on a dessert though, can easily finish off a whole punnet in one go.

I've got black blackcurrants, redcurrants and whitecurrants growing all together and for some reason the birds much prefer the red ones.

You can get some nice raspberry cordials but no it’s jot popular as a fruit pop - I’d love it as raspberry is a fave

My favourite drink at the moment is Pepsi Max Raspberry.

A good watermelon is awesome on a hot day. Just a shame they are rare to get a reasonably tasty one.

No worries, I always post a large box weighing up to twenty kilos to myself at the guesthouse before I fly over. In there I put the stuff that either won't fit into my luggage or breaks easier or weighs more than I care to carry. I then just enjoy the journey knowing most of the stuff I bring will be delivered directly to the guesthouse by a hunky parcel lad wearing a lovely uniform. Everybody wins.

I also have a lil' something for your Henry already sorted. Cannot wait to be back there. I need it.

Re watermelon you need to get one with a big brown patch on it , means it’s been sat ripening for longer.

One of my favourites at the moment is watermelon sprinkled with a chilli and lime powder that’s common in Mexican places in US - sounds like it won’t work but it’s beautiful combo

I've had it with chilli before, was nice iirc. Even better soaked in vodka for a BBQ.
