Tony Mowbray

The Club could put out a statement confirming Mowbray is in charge next season and kill off all this unhelpful speculation. If they don’t do so this week I think that suggests he will be leaving.

No need to feel sorry for him as he will have his remaining year off on full pay and will be free to take any job offer that comes along.

That said, I would quite like him to have another season with us.
Why? They might be talking to other managers before making a decision?

Why do our fans have a constant desire of needing to know and right now?

Depends what you mean by inexperience. Dan Neil rocked up his 100th appearance this season. Patto already our first choice keeper since last season. Cirkin first choice left back since last season.

Alese, Ekwah, Hume (in terms of English football), Michut, Ba.. fair enough, but aside from Hume in the second half of the season none of them have been stalwarts in the starting XI.

You could maybe argue Amad, but he's one of the most talented players in the league, has come from a humongous club, and has experience in the Prem, Serie A, and the Champions League.

I know the Championship is a step up from where we've been, but it's still only the second tier. This is where talented youngsters come to prove themselves at a lower level than where they truly aspire to be. Michut has taken a step down from what little game time he's had at PSG to mix it in English football. So all this talk of youth and inexperience doesn't tell the full story. These are talented lads.

I agree with the talented players crack. That’s why I was surprised people didn’t back us more.

Nowhere near mid way of the season

my bad it felt that way but just checked. point still remains, they were never going to setup a foreign model during a season hence planned it for this summer. risky
I'm not sure August is mid way through the season mind 😉
My bad but "corrected" myself, it certainly didn't feel that long ago mind. No transfer window either for a new model to be implemented, the club clearly felt Mowbray would just keep things ticking over so they could pln behind the scenes for this summer. He's given them a headache now though give his success.

It was Mowbray this season who got us to the playoffs with a depleted and mostly young inexperienced squad. I don’t consider it clever to not replace long term injuries and Simms in January. We don’t know which players from the current squad will be here next season or whether they will be replaced. So much in the air it would be better to have continuity with a safe pair of hands in Mowbray rather than a new head coach who will be starting from scratch.

I disagree, I think he has done a very good job but they got to the playoffs because of the recruitment and general squad build, the young squad that Mowbray talks so highly of that exceeded even his expectations.

TM has done a good job under the circumstances but when you look at his overall Managerial Career it goes back 15 years since he last won a competition (Championship with WBA) he has never won a Cup even at Celtic.
Compare that with one of the men who we are reported to be interested in. This man has won competitions at every level he has Managed

TM has little sell on value but if this man was a success the big clubs would pay top dollar compensation to take him. Isn’t that the way the club is thinking?
Not just with players but the manager too.

I really hope we aren't thinking about compensation. Id like a coach in that stays and builds something really special

it is part of the game. If any young talent is relatively successful, then the big teams will come calling. What we need is for him to raise our stock in the meantime.

"Preparing for life in the National League North following a promotion-winning campaign, Shields will host Tony Mowbray’s side at 12:30 in the Black Cats’ first outing of the day."
Nothing imminent it seems atleast
