Tony Mowbray

You have a very short memory if you class Gelhart as one of worst performing loan players we have had.
Vokins
Clarke Salter
Lee Camp et al.
ALS ran an article in November 2020 which had about 10 players on it. All of these made absolutely zero contribution to the club. Gelhart is a worker, he gets stuck in, doesn't hide, he will do ok as a professional. As his touch and confidence improves he will become more effective.
Probably not for us and maybe not in the Premier League but he will do ok. Reminds me a bit of Jordan Rhodes and Ashley Barnes.

crikey I had to Google Vokins, I do not remember him playing for us at all but he did 4 times....

Reminds me of Waghorn.
If we lost all them players we'd probably be looking at best part of £40m in transfer fees, if not more. That is not at all what happened st Huddersfield, they lost everybody for about £10m.

And the rest. Once one goes the rest would command a premium

People don't want rid of Mowbray. There's one or two who have said it
Now you're making out as though it's everybody.
I didn't say everybody, I said people. The majority want Mowbray to stay, you just have to look at the poll for that.

All our head coaches have been British since Speakman came in as well.

You're not going to get a fancy foreign fella coming to Sunderland in league one. First sniff of "success" and they want to start with the foreign mode which is clearly happening behind the scenes. They simply never expected Mowbray to do so well. The fact the club are head hunting abroad for managerial appointments clearly tells you the model they want to go down. That model would never have worked in league one.

Who cares where they're from? If someone new comes in as long as they improve the team that's the most important part.

I think the model Sunderland are seemingly trying to implement cares where they're from. "Tony from Saltburn" isn't fashionable enough for the model. Same thing at Watford. Wilder was just a stop gap, the vast majority are foreign.

If the club upgraded any of our players wed be all for it why is the coach any different? The majority on here didn't want Mowbray in the first place (I thought he was a good fit). It was the recruitment team that got us these players and TM. They seem to know what they're doing. I'll back their decision.

FWIW It is rumoured Salzburg want 3-5 million euros for Jaissle. So I don't think we will go for him. Farioli/Struber are available.

The model doesn’t care where they’re from, at all. Hence the Bennette signing. The club will look at any country and continent for a player. The same with a manager.

Yup

They seemed alright with Lee from Newmarket and Alex from Airdrie as well as the aforementioned Tony from Saltburn.

People want the best we can get. It’s as simple as that. If we can get someone in better, do it. No different to a player coming in to improve the team and squad.
