Bob Cratchits wife wasn't black though, was she?
Dickens doesn't say.

There were plenty of black people in Georgian and Victorian Britain.

As for the TV programme, it was OK. No problem with them taking liberties with the original, but it's a bit boring.

Not evil perhaps, but he instills fear in those around him at least. In this version you had Bob wise-cracking with him and people shouting abuse at him through his window to which he had no response. Scrooge came across as soft in this version to me which negates the whole point of the story. Dunno if it was intentional, but if it was, it was a pretty big misstep.

Pretty consistent with recent BBC front live drama. War of the Worlds was a misfire, and the new Dracula looks dogshit

Although in the interests of balance their version of His Dark Materials was mint

I thought dark materials poor, geared up for 12 yr olds , binned it after 2 episodes
