I turned it off for this reason. He was having a lovely chat with Cratchett who was giving him loads of sarcastic responses and loads of ruffians were banging his window and shit showing absolutely no fear of him. Obviously not the evil bastard of the book. Thought it was boring and full of monologue from what I stuck through.

Without watching it, this is enough feedback to say I won't ever bother watching it.

In fairness, Dickens was a bit of a leftist at the time, and used the story specifically to highlight inequality in society.
The original story has a powerful enough message without having to change it though.

Was bit of a slow burner but in the end was actually worth watching. Guy Pearce and Vinette Robinson performances both made it worth watching.
