15 minute drive, not too difficult. Seems a sellout though
Bugger. I really thought about going (last Ashes at the waca and all that) but have consoled myself that I wouldn't have got tickets anyway.

North or south? What's it like to live there?

Blind hope mate
 which, as we well know on here, is what kills you.

I really want to lose this now. Draw is just postponing the inevitable while increasing the risk that I'll die of sleep deprivation.

Broad & Anderson have bottled his series. They might as well fuck off before the rest of the England fans get there like that plastic Mag wanker commentating did....

Can't see any wickets coming at the moment. And it's f***ing hot... He told me we were in the shade.. The whole stand is apart from the row we are in.. My knees are going to be beetroot

Broad has been ineffective. Same Jimmy. Modern took the wicket. Overs was the only one to look problematic for them.

Field settings too defensive.

Bowl Modern and Overs after lunch with an aggressive feld. Make them play. Otherwise Smith will be batting til f***ing Christmas.

Yeah I'm starting to feel a bit fucked in the heat, the breeze is about but the raw sun is hitting me now. I'm on the grassy area too

You weren't drinking with a lad from West Brom last night were you?
Nah first day for me today

How good must Bradman have been. Smith is the best test batsman ever, bar only him. Yet Bradman averaged nearly 40 more than him. With a similarly unauthodox style.

What makes someone that good? Is it physical technique? Concentration? Reflexes?Mental strength?

Smith's discipline is what stands out to me. He focuses on what is best for the team and doesn't get carried away

Good bit of analysis from Sir Geoff the other day about the rotary technique that they both employ/employed. Both of them had the bat pointing at gully before bringing it down straight, maybe there's something in it.....

Morning Mr Pie.

Boycs knows his rhubarbs, I dunno why some on here put him down.

Do we over-coach our cricketers, from the MCC manual?

If I was on the grass I'd be fast asleep... I got escorted from a bar last night. Bloody sambucas

I've had a bit of kip on here. The games not keeping me alert. Not in Sunderland gear meself, haven't seen any others either. Was stood behind a fat mag and a Blackburn fan in a Tugay shirt though

You're there too? Am I the only one bothering to be up all night in the f***ing freezing cold? I hope your face peels off. ;)

Morning. Couldn't be chewed with the morning session today, looks like that was the correct decision.

The key thing (IMO) is to have everything in line when the ball gets there, how you get to that point should be a matter of personal comfort. And yes, I reckon some coaches get obsessed with stances and trigger movements rather then volume of runs.

This is getting really dull. No wickets is fine, as long as there's the odd chance. But we can't even do that. I'm off to bed.

Couldn't agree more. Everyone has their own physiology, brain and coordination. Everyone's "best practice" is therefore different.
