Were Pantera big over here in the early/mid 90's?

"Big" is quite a relative term, depends what you compare them to, but yes they were fairly well known during the Far Beyond Driven / Great Southern Trendkill period

Metallica news filtering through today. They are touring Europe in the Fall (apparently that's American for Autumn) and will announced dates before the end of the month!

Ozzy agrees, Tommy doesn't. Tbf a load including Lemmy and everyone up to modern bands like Shinedown refuse to call it anything but Rock

Love it
One of the most diverse genre's in music

Listening to Cry of Love & Children of Bodom here. Both completely different but excellent all the same!

For all the the talk of how “they invented metal,” I am not hearing a lot of metal here. To me it just sounds like all the other British people in the late 60s who tried to play blues. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, I’m just saying that there is nothing metal about harmonica solos and bluegrass outros.

He makes a valid point in a way. Sabbath were rooted in the blues and jazz (listen to Bill's drumming for a start - a world away from the double pedal ratatat of the modern metal band), whereas the metal bands are departure from that.

Any Pantera fans? Been getting a lot of rotation on my phone this wee, Walk is brilliant!

Four decent bands on at Riverside NCL on Easter Monday too, think tickets are less than £20, headlined by Bury Tomorrow.
Loads of local and smaller touring things going as well dont think get advertised enough but theres a good underground scene going on at minute seemed to grow in numbers last year. Warrior Soul doing a free gig in Trillians the 18th Feb

Enjoying Abyssinia by Mos Generator recently. Liking Midnight Cometh - Wo Fat too.

Many Opeth fans on here? Went to see them perform Ghost Reveries in 2015, they've been excellent every time I've seen them. Not much in the way of a 'performance' but musically they were great.

Can't disagree at all with that. It was new so people felt a need to label it. Sabbath and Motörhead both reek of the blues in certain stuff

I'll forever now regret not seeing them a few years ago. He's a God in my eyes.
 Never had 'em down as your cuppa tea mind. Saw them at the City Hall in about 2003. Loud. Too loud in fact. Lemmy was fuckin' huge, dressed all in black save for his shining white cowboy boots, looking as me mate put it at the time "slicker than a donkey's tail".

Pleased I'd seen them but once was enough to be honest.
