Sammy smith a hero of my youth will be sadly missed by us all.. A true roker park lad with who could of written a book 10000 pages thick with his exeploits following his beloverd sunderland... Never forgotton by the older generation ...R I P MATE from your old pal hutch.

Such great times we all had with Sammy a true Legend of SAFC if I put some of the stories of him on here people wouldn't believe yer, RIP my Mate.x

You should post some. I’d heard of Sammy the King of the Fulwell before I saw him. To say I got a surprise when I did see him is an understatement. Not what I was expecting.
A real character and that is one thing the world is short of.

The king of the Fulwell tag was mainly tongue in cheek mate.. He was never a hard man, but easily lead and very game..

Very sorry to hear that, very sorry.

Sammy wasn't a perfect human being but he was a real character who enjoyed life and following Sunderland.

His like may never be seen again and his passing, despite what some might believe, makes the world a little less interesting.

God bless mate, you made a lot laugh and one or two cry

I remember sitting in a bar in Manchester with him and about 16 others and we had all ordered a bar meal.. The waitress approached Sammy and said "Excuse me sir.. Are you the hamburger".. Sammy replied.. "No.. Me names sammy from Ryhope"..
