What happened to them? Shop was decent.
No idea. I think they might have went above the Dun Cow for a while but never heard of them since. Loved Junipers Pantry as well, with the exception of the toilet(s)!

Prefabs at the North Moor,Farra not started yet so probably early fifties.Wonder what year that was ?,are the houses pictured the top right of the picture Farringdon/Alnwick rd area?.
always thought it was third for the land third for the build and third profitWhat % profit is there on a new build? Been told 66% of SP. No idea if true.
Great pub but very much a summer pub.
Sad though, not only will we lose a decent bar but will lose all that green land at Silksworth and they'll probably look at Farra fields after. Any green land in Sunderland, they are wanting to build on yet are happy to let derelict places like Hendon rot.
Building on green spaces in the city has been going on for decades. I don’t like the Tories and they may have exasperated the problem but let’s not pretend it began in 2011.
Probably. Still a canny mark up. £70k profit on a £210k sale.always thought it was third for the land third for the build and third profit
They are extending Newbottle by over 50% tbf. Probably needs it with all the houses around about though.Totally right with this. Same is happening in Houghton. Any green land development is given approval by the council. Yet amenities aren’t improved on, schools, doctors, dentists etc.
Because gilly is a shite businessman, all his ventures have failed. His food was shite in there aswel, the steak place above the dun cow not much betterWhen junipers pantry went in there I thought it was a great move but just didn’t work out for whatever reason.
He moved to the Derry when it was refurbished and then had a kid. Not sure where he went after that. What happened to them? Shop was decent.

Aye junipers was the best of the lot, I think he is just working as a chef again now as opposed to running his own place last I heard.I don’t know him but have heard similar sentiments, however always thought the food was decent when they were at the Barnes. Never went to the dun cow and only went to cavalier once, but the food and the service wasn’t great if I’m honest - although not sure they were directly responsible for the services, just food.
Yeah I knew about those, I literally live about two minutes away but I meant the ones on the back of that where the stream is on the back of Gulley Law.
Last time I was in was in the Summer, ordered my drinks and the card machine kept loosing connection ended up having to transfer the lass behind the bar the money to her bank account.
They weren’t serving food, the play area was a death trap and the grass in the beer garden was all overgrown.
Was it called the hunters lodge anarl?Bring back the poachers pocket
It ain’t that bad man, most places in Sunderland have the local radgie inhabitants, gives it a bit characterBest beer garden in Sunderland but generally inhabited by wronguns in my experience.
Shame like.
There’s been rumours for years about it and supposedly the planning permission was granted years ago too. There was talk last year that plans to build a crematorium opposite got knocked back. The fields behind have been problem after problem since they started building on them. Apparently there used to be an outdoor swimming pool at The Cavalier, not sure if it's true like. It'll definitely happen. That land will be worth a fortune for housing.
Incidentally I've never been to that pub.
