Sunderland council not listening

Sunderland council are slowly being exposed for the corrupt, unaccountable body that they are. People like Len Lowther who are brave enough to put their neck on the line to expose the wrongdoings are frequently vilified on here, now, slowly but surely the truth is starting to out.

You're using the name "Len Lowther" in a post and expecting people to take you seriously?

How much would you expect to pay the chief executive of an organization employing thousands of people to run a city?

The same as a binman. He's only a council employee after all.

.. Are you seriously trying to tell me that having one persuasion or another would not give you a leg up ..

Utterly irrelevant to the point you were making. Chief Execs across the country are well paid and not politically affiliated - their pay and their leanings are mutually exclusive. They are appointed officials - hence why they are usually returning officers in elections - and are required to be neutral.

I'm not sure many people grasp this, if they do they deliberately ignore it and plough on with council bashing

Without a doubt there should be a law passed that means no MPs/councillors can earn more than the PM, it's lunacy that that's legal.

Not defending the high salaries of councillors but the PM gets free housing, food and travel amongst other benefits. Not a like for like comparison really

Eh? None of them do!

I know people who think Len is the Mackem Ghandi and believe every word of the vacuous shoite he writes!

this may be Seb but are the echo starting to turn on the council?

For the record Chief Execs are or were on a pay-scale commensurate with City Population - I read (?in the echo) 8 of these 11 execs had now left and the amount paid was a pay-off including pension contributions which they were entitled to. Nobody should be paid what Wayne Rooney earns every three days.

Ah knarr man, ah knarr :). But he cannit be wrong all the time

well a broken clock is right twice a day

Len's main problem, is the stuff he may have a valid point, he's just such a hypocrite & goes over the top
For example, the claim that the marine walk was sold off on he cheap

He conveniently ignores that he also got his cottages on the cheap, and also ruins his own argument by massively overstating the true value using strange logic

Then goes on like a radgy bairn when pulled up on stuff that blatantly isn't true

.. Using that analogy, Corbyn should be paying us ..
The lowest claim for expenses is Jeremy Corbyn. Whatever his flaws, thet are miniscule compared to the evil tories. Think yourself lucky that I stoop to give you the courtesy of a reply.

As well as channeling lots of money into the pockets of her husband. It's legal, so we are told, but it shouldn't be. They should lock him and her up in one of his companies jails. Funny that, husband of former home secretary bought jails from her. All above board like?

.. Typical Labour attitude these days, thinking they are above everyone. The only time you have f***ing stooped was to put your head up your arse .. Corbyn's not worth a jot ..

Tidied.

Shoite bait, Jeremy Corbyn has withstood personal & political attacks for nigh on 2 years and he is still standing where's the Goves, Camerons, Osbornes, Nuttalls, Farages etc of the world? Keeping their heads down because everything is going pear-shaped.

If the fecking Tories get in again we can say goodbye to the NHS and any compassion for the not-wealthy.

Let's get this right, are you really in the belief that Sunderland Council are responsible for all of those things on that list?
Fuck me you are some boy like :lol::lol::lol:

You mean the big lefty love in will be over and people will have to take responsibility for themselves? Give people handouts and they will accept them without question. Show them they can do things for themselves and they will be capable.

the knackers on the Echo's comments section constantly blame the council for things that have nowt to do with them, so hows this any different?

Big lefty love in? The Tories have been in power longest between the wars and after the last war and not until Neo-Liberalism reared it's head did they try and fix it for the rich and totally feck it up.

Mrs Thatcher a lefty? She was the driving forces behind Comprehensives but that's taking it a bit far.

>> Give people handouts and they will accept them without question. The biggest recipients of hand-outs (and other benefits such as Quantitative Easing) in recent times has been the banks & bankers.

Next you'll be saying 'strong and stable leadership'

You seem to assume I am a Tory. Wrong. Do you deny that too many people have become dependant on benefits when they are capable of taking responsibility for themselves.?
