Strauss and his stupid ideas....

What a steaming pile of shit.

Come and see 'First class cricket festivals' featuring none of the players you've seen playing for England and none of the players who've done well for their counties this season! Come one! Come all!

Fuck off.
There will be less people attend those than a championship match at Derbyshire or Leicestershire.

- sort of makes sense with North involved in the 100 with the Northern team.......... I wasn't aware Bostock was a director.

but I think it’s just tainted leolems objectivity on anything else and people can’t move past it
Why should they move past it? It's a disgrace and the big reason why the proposal has ended up being so polarising.

No cricket at all in August apart from The Hundred and friendlies in an absolute pisstake.

The point though mate is that just because you think it isn't going away doesn't mean people shouldn't point out how bad it is for the game.

It basically renders any restructure like this pointless because we'll always end up with something daft.

I don't agree with the abuse either but if he wanted to do a truly objective assessment and set of recommendations into changes that would make England the best in all forms of the game, he could have omitted The Hundred if he really wanted to.

It wont get through based on the "friendly cricket" in August part. Probably a tight call on the county championship, clubs will probably sacrifice the CC to get the extra couple of Blast games in. This August "non cricket" month is just a shambles, unfortunately the ECB are not fit for purpose.....but we knew that already

It might be the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Filling the peak summer months with friendlies made up of the players left behind while the rest play a different sport. I'm almost interested in seeing how they try to justify it.
plenty of daft ideas but that cutting the number of t20 matches will have the county finance personel twitching and that is what a lot if counties s will not give up and compromises will be made.
I will say it again the chairnan if Sussec was interviewed during the lunch break by Kevin Howells and that was his first and major objection.
Thr problem fir the counties is they sll have different priorities and will have to try and unite which they rarely do. I think thd last time was when they all went mute when the ECB shafted Durham.

I'm not saying that at all, I think you misunderstand me

Just saying it wasnt part of the review, so judging every coment on move with "get rid of the 100" is not really productive

I agree that people shouldnt just accept it, no cricket in august is ridiculous, I think local red ball cricket could work though personally...as I say Durham v Yorkshire at Scarborough etc would be mint.
Kent and Middlesex early statements suggest they'll vote against it

yeah no chance this gets voted through, the question is what is the compromise.

Dont agree on that point, dont have to be friendlies, can give them some context. Think it could be exciting.

They arent gonna play CC in August, the 100 is on, I know thats shit but thats just the reality so untill that goes, and that broadcast deal ends its about finding a work around.

Even people like Harmy, who is against the 100, has talked up that one proposal

The only alternative is the 50 over cup in August I guess, because they cant have the blast really.

I genuinely can't see a bunch of friendlies getting anyone excited. Even if they created some kind of league for it I can't see that getting people anymore interested that the CC does.

And no matter what they do with it, it will just add more complexity into a calendar that is already far too different to follow.

Essex are also against it. That's 3 of the bigger teams. I can't see Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Northants going for it so hopefully this is going to be overwhelmingly voted out.

maybe not, but the calendar is already too complex like, they need to do something, I dunno what the answer is but some discussion needs to take place.

some naive posters on this forum thinking that it can just carry on how it is.
why have a situation arising very quickly where the Indian franchises will put players on year long contracts and farm them out to leagues, they have unlimited money.

they have already poached to South African players before they even played for their country

obviously England are better position to fight that but there are big dangers to our game from abroad

The all have slightly different priorities, but they all have a common goal: To stay alive.

I think this is the last throw of the dice for first class cricket, if they don't come together now then they are finished. The 16.4 was an ECB power grab, and I think the penny has dropped even with the most fervent 16.4 cultist.

It's an abusive relationship at the minute. Every inch the counties give to the ECB the ECB wait a bit and come back for more, this review is just the next step. The counties need to stop acting like an abused spouse and fight back. And I think supporters need to wise up and stop accepting it, it doesn't have to be this way.

The 16.4 grounds are secured up to 2024, after that there's no reason the counties can't stop this farce in it's tracks. No grounds, no competition. I think if they sign up again then it's over, I really do.

Test matches will be next, 4 day games are on their way.
