Strauss and his stupid ideas....

The proposals are awful. A six team premier League with two minor groups of six.

So that's 5 home games a season. Maximum 20 days county championship a season. Less if games finish early, interference from rain and umpires running for the pavilion when the sun goes behind a cloud.

Counties can't afford to reduce the cost of membership but at present prices this does not represent value for money. Especially if the one day cup goes to a straight knockout competition. Get beat away in the first round and you don't even get the chance to see your team at home.

Who would be the six PL teams? I bet we won't be one of them. We have provided more England players bar Yorkshire this century and in the same period won the championship three times.

There's nothing wrong with the current system apart from needing a couple of minor tweaks. If this goes through what happens next time the Aussies stuff us which they do quite often? It's change for the sake of change.
We know exactly who the ECB will want to be the 6 PL teams. Surrey, Yorkshire, Lancs, Notts, Warks and Hants.

there is plenty wrong witn the current system like sorry, and I am a CC devotee and hate the 100

but you are just buyring your head in the sand of whats coming.

I dont agree with all the proposals like but there are big challenges coming round the corner and players have much more options than they ever did

Agree with this. Absolutely loads wrong, the sport is dying. But that doesn't mean that these proposals are right.

You are unwilling to separate the 100, which I hate btw, with any other suggestion now though

Clubs selling memberships for next season need to tell members what exactly clubs will be playing for in the county championship for example given these daft proposals for 2024. Clubs also need to communicate with members about it and potentially share their views to members.

With regards to the scheduling I am pretty relaxed with how it is at the moment, I don't understand the clamour for changing it/reducing the number of county games. I accept the 100 is here to stay which I still think will bankrupt the ECB but let it be I'll be past caring when that happens given that if these proposals go through, next year will likely be my last as a member. Most likely just watch the odd local club games.

I always said they should have marketed the T20 better and left it at that.

The announcement yesterday of no test cricket in August is the first alarming sign of change. In fact England as a team play 1 game in August which is a T20 game ironically in County Durham, that is just ridiculous.

It's a shame but as they say on Dragon's Den.......... "I'm Out"

For starters nothing is happening next season that’s already been established

They’re voting on things for the season after

I just don’t think people still grasp the threat to our game from franchise cricket overseas

Yeah no tests in august is Disgrace

But again has absolutely nothing to do with Strauss

I quite like the idea of Durham v Yorkshire at Scarborough in august etc. I’m surprised some are so against if

You’ve spent a lot of the year moaning about how bad the county games have been but now think nothing needs to change? I don’t get it

I have moaned about the quality of the wickets at Durham which have been piss poor in my opinion. It has made for some appalling games from a paying spectator point of view.

Scheduling I am fairly relaxed about which is the main issue with this review thing.

I think re-branding the T20 for the summer was the way to go. This 100 will cripple the game in this country, you could tell this year the top players aren't arsed about it.

But you are still avoiding the point, Strauss hasn’t scheduled the 100 in august

He’s doing a review of fitting stuff around it

You may not like that but that’s all he can or anyone can do.

You won’t find anyone more against the 100 than me but I think it’s just tainted leolems objectivity on anything else and people can’t move past it

Not a massive cricket fan, but like to see England & Durham well, I drift in and out of this board
But as an outsider It's hard not to be convinced the ECB are doing everything they can to destroy the county championship & test cricket, in order to chase $$$$$'s
They are going to turn the sport into baseball with 2 hitters

"personally i would love to see england be the best team in the world across all formats" - aye which is why you ruined the competition we are world champions in
The conclusion to the ECB's high performance review, designed to ensure England has the best chance to succeed in 20-over, 50-over and Test cricket is to... prioritise a format of the game played by nobody else in the world. Absolute shambles :lol::lol:

It's the franchise element that does it for me. We don't do franchise sports in this country.

They might as well call them by the county name whose ground they use, Surrey, Middlesex etc ....... the rest of us have no allegances and therefore little interest

That won’t get voted through mind I guess it’s what the counties come back with

The whole thing fell down for me when they tried to separate it entirely, no need at all

At least they could have had a direct affiliation between Yorkshire and Durham for the northern team, only use players from the counties, have games at both grounds. But to just have no links to anything

I didn’t watch a ball this year, not out of protest either I just have no interest in it at all

Eventually replacing Hampshire with Middlesex and relegating Durham to women's cricket.

I watched one ball and immediately kicked my telly in and burnt my house down.

Franchises are companies, theylll have owners and they can be bought and sold ..... and move to a different part of the Country, whatever the owner wants. And if they want to play in a 'European Cup' they can.

With every suggestion a little bit of the soul of cricket dies and cricket becomes a game for people who don't like cricket.

Bring on the dancing girls!!

Strauss cant change it like, he is doing a review based on the 100 being in august for the next 5 years, which wasnt his decision, I dunno why people are claiming it is
Who is saying he can change it?

It's a performance review It could have come up with any recommendations, including scrapping the 16.4. But it was never going to because of who commisioned the report.
