Sri Lanka (Galle) November 2018

Are you posting about a particular part of SL there mate?
Just stopped a few miles from the airport for a couple of nights, the hotel/guest house is comfortable and clean with lovely owners, had a trip from the local station Seeduwa to Galle Fort on the train which is a proper eye opener, beggars galore on the carriages from a fella with limbs dropping off and open wounds to a blind bloke getting on with his Kareoke machine to give us a few songs. Suppose that's what you get when its a 3rd class train only and the fare is 40 rupees (18 pence) for the 1 hour journey, great experience. Well worth downloading the Pickme local app for Sri Lanka taxis and Tuk Tuks cheap as chips and very reliable. Negumbo it is today.

Aye mate, another world isn't it. From memory there are some good little bars in Galle Fort. Even if you have tickets for the game I'd recommend watching a session or two from the ramparts too. You'll have the locals coming up serving you drinks and ice creams for pence.

Yeah looking forward to the trip south, but the locals here are friendly as anything although they seem to live a simple and poor life financially they seem extremely happy with their lot.
From our hotel today to Negumbo approximately 40 minutes in a tuk tuk was £2.42 and various stop offs on route back amounted to absolute pennies.

If you aren't staying there Unawatua is definitely worth a tuk tuk for a few beers. And as I say defo try the Sydney Hotel (begind the end opposite The Fort) for a midday pint, you'll never forget it!

Hope it stays dry for youse.
