He had a superb 2016/17, England’s best batsman however suffered the same fate as Gary Ballance did, went to Australia and got peppered and has never recovered, his Test Career is over.
 
Openers out cheaply, Root getting a start and nicking off, Bairstow being bowled. Some things never change

His test career isn’t over as his mate is the captain. He’ll get more opportunities than any other batsman

That’s the point and the problem all in one, imo Bairstow is a better player as the selectors must, and although it may be controversial I still think he is in the best 7/8 batsman in this country.

That does not mean he is a good test batsman, and more to do with the low quality batsman we have in this country and the massive difference between county bowling and test bowling.

Until he goes away and works on his technique he is a walking wicket at test level. Even Ireland had him sussed
