South Africa v England 1st test - Centurion

One thing for certain

Sibley’s England career needs to end fast

Just shows fans demanding picking players based on a list of numbers without ever seeing him play
Well I’ve already criticised Root. The point I’m making is that the batting isn’t good enough. And regardless of the lack of talent in the pool, the same players are given opportunity after opportunity

They really aren’t

We’ve tried so many last few years

The list is endless how can you seriously suggest that?

Sibley
Denly
Malan
Stoneman
Westley
Pope
Jennings
Hamees
Vince

I could go on and on and on. Sorry but that specific point it’s just a blatant lie. No offence

  you’ll give bairstow all the leeway in the world but won’t do the same for a lad who is playing his third test and has actually scored runs in county cricket and deserved his place in the side on merit.

Probably because Bairstow has about the same amount of caps as all those players combined despite having one good season his entire test career?

He’s not good enough like, sorry.

People criticizing selectors despite never ever seeing him play

Don’t just pick the top run scorers from a list you know

Haha good god

Can they all keep wicket like? He’s played the last 4 years as a keeper

The obsession with him!

We’ve tried so many players man

Aye give the gloves to Tom Westly, great idea

I would make Morgan captain after this series. His test record may not be great, but his captaincy is miles better than Roots.

And the reason for that is the lack of options, its the basis of picking any sport side in the world that you replace players if you think the other options are better.

Yet again the forum blames those batting at 6 and 7 for a top order collapse

People still don’t get it like

It’s just muddled thinking

People relating a wicket keeper at 7 to top order players not getting a chance

Makes no sense

And he’s been dropped. Pope got ill, literally only reason he’s playing

I don’t think there’s an obsession. I said you were too kind to him with his dismissal.

Burns average is 10 short of where it needs to be like, far too many low scores

A really like Denly n he doesn’t give it away but he really needs some big scores as he looks the part

I’m not he’s been dropped , Pope got Ill

You suggesting we keep picking same players isn’t true

We’ve tried all sorts

The issue with England hasn’t been at 6n7

It’s the top order

Our top 3 average 33,10,31

Says it all

I get that. I don’t understand why a player is taken out for poor form, not do anything to show he has recovered that form and then be picked as a specialist batsman.

The options may not be better but none have been given as many caps or attempts as Bairstow to prove that they aren’t good enough. He averages 35ish on the back of one very good season in about 8 years.

He isn’t the only one who isn’t good enough. That’s clear enough.
Nasser Hussain is not best pleased with two slips and a gully it’s fair to say. Can only imagine what Bob Willis would have made of this

Although of course I see your point, but to me the equation is simple, more quality replacements less opportunity for established players, less quality replacements more opportunities for them.

And imo the replacements we have waiting in the wings is as less quality as I can remember

And bar Pope can’t see anyone better than Bairstow although Roy could be given a chance at 6 as he was given a raw deal asking him to open in the Ashes

Bit harsh on Sibley, got a pretty good ball. Needs a couple of scores this series mind
