Snitches at work

Massive mate, some users machines without SSD took like a minute to boot up and to login.

With the same amount of data on the machine and Windows 10 with an SSD takes like 5 seconds to boot up.

Even had some users took like 5 minutes they said they would login go makes coffee come back and still wasn't on desktop screen
I rescued an old Dell laptop from a junk pile and my 7 year old has been using it. It was painfully slow and I found it unusable. Remembered I had a spare SSD, cloned the disk and stuck it in, it is like a new laptop. Absolutely flying.

The difference is staggering, even with older laptops. I have a few floating Lenovo X240 machines which are 5 years old. Only used in meeting rooms and for quick spares. 8GB RAM and an SSD, they boot our Enterprise image of Windows 10 in less than 10 seconds.

Mind there is one lass here who would slow a Cray down ffs. She just won't learn that opening 85,764 applications and windows will slow her machine down. Apparently she needs them all open. She's from Hartlepool so that explains it.

I used to work with a lad we nicknamed the fly because he was always hoovering around the gaffer's arse.

He got 2 promotions while I was there and sort of got my job after I took redundancy.

He wasn't crap at his job, just very average and highly annoying of course. I couldn't stand the bloke but I also lost respect for 2 blokes I used to like as they swallowed his bullshit hook, line and sinker.
I'd be promoting someone who done my housework too

Came across plenty users like that who are adamant they need all the applications open at once orhave filled their desktop so much that the icons are just going on top of each other in top left corner.

Seems there’s quite a few inept at their jobs on here.
It goes both ways.

For every snidey lickspittle that fucks others over there’s a lazy, petulant dick who resents anyone putting any kind of extra effort into their job to try and get on and likes to try and spread it around that you’re the former.

Not at all, far from lazy, I can’t stand lazy bastards, although a lot don’t need to put in extra effort to get on.
It’s that sort that make work a lot harder than it needs to be as they are normally clueless arseholes who get on due to who they know and not what their capabilities are.

Hope that clears that one up for you.

If there’s lots of capable people though, how are you supposed to rise above? You’ve got make yourself known to stakeholders (eurgh).

Do what you have to do I suppose, what that entails who knows?
My general point is that some people really resent anyone that doesn’t want to stay at the lowest level of whatever job they’re doing.

I work with a lot of moaning bastards that do nothing but complain about the job but as far as I can tell do nothing to help themselves.

The main problem with issues at work is who to tell, not many if any of those above actually give a fuck.

I don’t resent anyone getting on but if they’re not up to the task most suffer the consequences.

At least you don’t have much contact daily with those above unlike the knackers you do.
