I particularly like the last sentence in the link.
It’s funny how you see yourself as so much more intelligent than the majority of the public.
It’s fine as it is, leave the BBC alone.
Though I disagree with over 75s having free licenses, should means-tested at that age.
Fine. Let’s use education as an example. Or street lights.Being able to watch tv is not a matter of life & death and the nhs isnt funded by a flat fee by everyone that uses it, regardless of their income. There are no other affordable alternatives than the nhs so its not the best of analogies mate. A basic netflix package works out at about half the cost of the annual fee for the license, what's wrong with giving people a choice instead of forcing them to pay for stuff they're not that bothered about watching?
It’s an example of a public good. There are numerous others.I don't think there's a reasonable comparison between paying for the NHS and the BBC mind
It’s an example of a public good. There are numerous others.
Fine. Let’s use education as an example. Or street lights.

Neither of which are funded by a specific lump sum payment, nor are there easily available, cheaper or free alternatives that you can use, particularly if you dont pay the said lump sum. Back to the drawing board mate...
I am more intelligent than the majority of the public tbf.
Agreed. Same with prescriptions.
I doubt that you are sir.
Maybe so. We can use the street light one, or the education one, or the roads one.
Unless you live in a cave in the uk it's great value for anyone.
It already is.Make it subscription only and everybody is happy.
Scrapping it? And then letting people pay if they want it?Whats the free alternative to paying council tax?
So your challenge is how it is funded? Fine fund it through tax then.Neither of which are funded by a specific lump sum payment, nor are there easily available, cheaper or free alternatives that you can use, particularly if you dont pay the said lump sum. Back to the drawing board mate...
Its a general payment. There is no specific street light taxWhats the free alternative to paying council tax?
May I ask on what grounds you make this judgement?
Scrapping it? And then letting people pay of they want it?
