I'm a cynical old bastard so a charitable donation of £9 million looks like a nice tax write off to me!'Haway' was working double shifts posting endlessly about how Short was robbing the club, taking us into admin, etc.
As far as Short being just a businessman and incapable of generosity of spirit ... that's bollocks.
One of the people I worked for.made an anonymous charitable donation of £9 million.
Short took the Sunderland supporters to his heart and tried his best .... he fucked up and was man enough to say so.
If we get back to the premier league short makes more money than if he sold the club any rival bids.
He's just happy to wait for it as long as he doesn't have to put anymore in.
Its worked out well for us as it means we don't have to accept any offer we don't want to, but integrity has nothing to do with it.
He was happy enough to pass the debt over to the new owners as again that is a good tax liability if your business ownership is set up correctly.
But onwards and upwards. Just wish the World Cup was out the way and can't wait for the season to start!
