People were wrong about Short ...

'Haway' was working double shifts posting endlessly about how Short was robbing the club, taking us into admin, etc.

As far as Short being just a businessman and incapable of generosity of spirit ... that's bollocks.

One of the people I worked for.made an anonymous charitable donation of £9 million.

Short took the Sunderland supporters to his heart and tried his best .... he fucked up and was man enough to say so.
I'm a cynical old bastard so a charitable donation of £9 million looks like a nice tax write off to me!
If we get back to the premier league short makes more money than if he sold the club any rival bids.
He's just happy to wait for it as long as he doesn't have to put anymore in.
Its worked out well for us as it means we don't have to accept any offer we don't want to, but integrity has nothing to do with it.
He was happy enough to pass the debt over to the new owners as again that is a good tax liability if your business ownership is set up correctly.

But onwards and upwards. Just wish the World Cup was out the way and can't wait for the season to start!

Nobody sets out to fail:the vast majority of us recognise he was guilty of poor decisions and being badly advised. As a club we did have some good times during his tenure, but ultimately the culmination of all the poor decisions and appointments led to where we are now.

Mr Short tried everything, but nothing really worked. There is no doubt he is a decent enough fella though;the ins and outs of the takeover will come out eventually, and although we’re in League one we have a good opportunity to totally restructure. Painful as it’s been arriving at this point,he could have left us in an even worse position.

Whatever happened to @haway he had all worked out, apparently.

I always give people I don't know the benefit of the doubt. You however …

.... and it's killing them.

There must have been dozens of posters who vehemently insisted Short had a plan to take the club into administration and 'thereby line his pockets' or whatever. Even logical replies by people who understand finance, such as @Grumpy Old Man, were dismissed out of hand by people who 'knew better'.

I suspect this is the reason for so many of these 'I bet there are hidden clauses from Short and we'll be paying him for years' threads.

I've seen people claiming all kinds of dirty tricks regarding the takeover that will come back to haunt us, they simply refuse to believe we're debt free.

FFS lads, just accept he's done the decent thing and has given us the chance to draw a line on the past. Going back over Short, Bain, Byrne, etc etc etc is destructive and part of the problem. It's often said, on here, that there's a self destructive attitude from people who just happy clap and accept shit ..... so why don't those people look on the bright side, for once, and accept this opportunity to rebuild the club in the right way, just a thought.

I think most people do accept he did the right thing.

Fuck off you divvy...... Time to learn other words.... Your opinion like your brain is minuscule. Do not get many Mags from Roker born lads, but a lot more from your neck of the woods. Psssssssst.

Calm down man ya Welly Top.

I just think it's odd how he suddenly disappeard the day it was announced that the club had been sold. Was there another agenda going on all along?

Of course its anonymous, you dont know who it was do you?

How did Short do vs. NUFC over his time here?

I could probably work it out, but I’m sure someone will know.

He was just an idiot mate, must've posted a dozen 'grab the pitchforks lads' threads but did absolutely nothing himself.

He was adamant that Short was deliberately running the club into the ground to make loads of money ..... or summat just as daft.

Quite bizarre the way he vanished. I suppose he'll always be remembered for yapping around your ankles
