On second thoughts - Peter Reid

Been supporting the lads for decades...iirc we qualified for europe and club/reid refused it. Will never forgive that...never seen us (competitive) europe and likely never will.

How many of us thought that was it - we'd cracked it?

The stadium was built, then extended; the infrastructure was apparently there and you'd struggle to get a ticket when the SOL was selling out every game. Bob Murray said we'd never go back to being a YoYo club. We wanted to see money spent so we'd carry on competing at the top end - and push further.

That's where the pressure on Reidy came from. We were desperate not to go backwards... but poor signings and a loss of what we once had in the dressing room meant we did - and then Howard Wilkinson came in and we went into freefall.

Truth is that we've never reached those heights again. To see where we are now is heartbreaking and a testament to the shoddy management of Ellis Short. To see Wolves and Watford competing in the top 10 where we should be, boils my piss.
