Those that cling to the hope they don't get promoted must be the same people who hope the credit card bill doesn't arrive.
7 wins out of their last 14 will get them 90 pts which has guaranteed promotion since the 2nd flight went to 24 teams in 1996

Whilst I think they are nailed on its not set in stone just yet. Almost every other season we would have went up the year we lost to Charlton iirc.

Wasn't it Newcastle who were 12 points ahead, in the league at this point, and completely fucked it up

I still maintain that was as much an astonishing run of results by Man Utd as it was a fuck up by the Mags.

Couldn't happen again could it ;)

Highly unlikely but the Mags may get twitchy if they lose a few of their tough away run

They've won 9 out of their last 11 in the league. You could have at least chucked the rest up.

You're so defensive

It's only a bit of fun anyway ... besides Huddersfield are just getting into their stride.

Just beaten Brighton & Reading ........

So bring realistic and truthful is 'attempting to fit in'?

If it's between that and being a deluded shithouse who lives up to a cartoon character it's a tough choice.

Realistic saying they need an entire new team if they go up? Has a promoted side EVER done that?

Hmmm - played a game more than us and 9 points adrift of us with 13-14 games to go.
No chance

Brighton, Huddersfield & Reading aren't a threat individually ....... but they're dangerous together as they're Newcastle's next 3 away games in a row.

Win or draw all 3 and it's job done for Benitez, lose 2 or 3 and the balance will change.

If Brighton beat Reading on Saturday and we beat Bristol then the gap is 12 points. We play our game in hand on Tuesday away to Brighton. Big 'if' but if we do beat Brighton the gap goes to 15 points. Then on Saturday 4th March we are away to Huddersfield and Reading are at home to Wolverhampton. If we equal Reading's result then the gap would stay at 15, but could be as much as 18 before we play them, and then if we beat them on the 7th March the gap could be as big as 21 points.
That unlikely run is based on Newcastle winning their next 4 games, and Reading losing their next 3. Probably a bit of both will happen. Reading will probably fall away in the next few weeks end up 12 points adrift i reckon. It'll become a 3 horse race for the 2 places.
