New Music Releases Thread

Read Miki Berenyi's autobiography earlier this year, Ms. Anderson seems an interesting character.
It's a really good book and very honestly written. I just finished it myself a few days ago.

i noted your posts at the time & finally got round to reading berenyi's book 'fingers crossed', what an excellent read... whilst i know a few lush songs & were aware of them i knew nothing of the band or miki herself... fascinating\horrific read, although her style is really easy going to the reader it makes a wonderful page-turner of a book. i had no idea of why the band ended when it did, which made for a sad reading however she seems to have lived a good life after the wild 80s & 90s.

thanks for the heads up!

Really love that first track on the Jerskin Fendrix album, hopefully the album is just as good

I really like the album but the first track is the best thing on there. Big shout out to The Necks from this week's releases. 4 tracks in 3 hors but the album flies by.

Anyway, on to business, on Friday there are albums from Ashnikko, bar italia, Boz Scaggs, Casey Dienel, Chrissie Hynde, Miles Kane, Militarie Gun, Nathan Sykes, Of Monsters and Men, Paz Lenchantin, Polica, Skullcrusher, Soulwax, Steve Martin & Alison Brown, Sudan Archives, Tame Impala, The Last Dinner Party, Todd Snider, Mozart Estate, Makaya McCraven, Grass, The Barr Brothers, The Apartments, United Bible Studies, Long Fling, Jeremy Tuplin, Smote, The Lovely Eggs, Holly Golightly, Faten Kanaan, Elias Ronnenfelt, Rural Tapes and Jeff Tobias.

I’m excited for Brogeal, who I’m surprised didn’t make the Metacritic website. I’m going to see them do an instore performance and signing at my local record place on release day too!

Just heard an album called Bye Bye Bird by Nina Garcia that came out in February. Experimental and instrumental. I found it an absorbing listen.
Out of this week's new releases I'll be checking out bar italia first.

Rianne Downey album is also out today.

Went to see bar italia on Wednesday. Was the album launch, they’re much more gentle than I was expecting.
Where was that? Not seen them yet, but have a ticket for Leeds in March, although it's too early to know if I'll definitely be able to make it. Really liked the 3 songs I'd heard in advance of the new album. Streamed the album early this morning before work, but I wasn't really awake enough to notice any other standout songs. Still intend to get it.

Pub in Kingston. Banquet records do a lot of them

I finally finished it a couple of weekends ago, after chipping away at it over the past year. One of the best music memoirs I've read. Same as you, I knew a bit of Lush without being heavily into them (though I did see them when they reformed in the mid 2010s), but it was a fascinating read, even for those who don't know them and are just interested in music or bios. I told the missus how well it was written while I was reading it and said that she should read it next. Wasn't that surprised when it came to the end and she said she'd been in a day job as an editor for the past 20 years (I'm an editor - that made me smile), so coupled with her dad being a journalist, I guess the quality of the writing shouldn't be a surprise to me, in retrospect. Excellent read.

Right then, firstly, I'm off to Thailand for work tomorrow so no idea how much of this lot I'll get to listen to but on Friday there are new albums from Bahamas, Big Wreck, Bon Jovi, Brain Washer, Brandi Carlile, Circa Waves, Dave, Demi Lovato, Home Counties, Just Mustard, Lily Allen, Mammoth, Miguel, People R Ugly, Serj Tankian, Sigrid, The Lemonheads, Tortoise, Bruce Springsteen (Nebraska 82), Imaginational Anthems vol. XIV: Ireland (a compilation of Irish guitar talent) and Amadou & Mariam (sadly, Amadou's last).
