New Music Releases Thread

Just spent a bit time checking out some of the recently mentioned music. I really enjoyed Dry Cleaning, so if they've signed a deal like has been stated, I look forward to the album. in the meantime I've ordered the 12 song vinyl compilation of the two ep's. Her voice sounds a bit like Sarah Cracknell and the spoken word delivery reminds me a bit of Prolapse (fantastic 90s indie band - for those who missed them).

Glad you're enjoying. Go and see them live if you get the chance. They're very good!

Omar S has just put out another very good house record.
Not as ‘Detroit’ sounding as his earlier stuff but any House / techno fans will enjoy this.

I stopped replying to music threads on here years ago because, even though music has always been my main passion, after replying to every single music thread for years and years, I eventually concluded that there was no-one else on here who shared my taste in music, and it ended up feeling like I was pissing in the wind. Might have to start again now you've turned up.

Omar S is a boyo.

Aye we seem to share very similar tastes. I listen to a lot of genres but electronic music has always been my main love, at the minute specifically synth / cold wave / post punk but also all forms of good house and techno.
The vast majority of stuff I post on here will fall under that bracket and it’s mostly stuff recommended by either Resident Advisor, Electronic Sound magazine or Piccadilly Records.

Anyway, Aye Omar S is great. It clocks In at 1hr 18 but not a bad tube on it.

Similar to me really I guess. I also listen to all sorts, but very little guitar music. I listen to lots of the further reaches of jazz ( I was brought up on jazz, my dad was a jazz drummer), but my abiding love is high quality techno. My core touch points are Drexciya and then Maurizio and all that Basic Channel stuff, and then the naughty electronics of Pan Sonic and the like. I hear a lot of that in the Beatrice Dillon album we discussed the other day.

Vocal delivery also reminded me a bit of Black Box Recorder. It’s enjoyable (only just listened to them first time yesterday) but I’ll have to see how long before the delivery gets old. Good so far though and I really like the music

I love them, I made myself a playlist on Spotify of their 2 Ep's. They're on at The Deershed Festival this year, I can't wait to see them

Really liking Cold Beat. Reminds me of some of the early Magnetic Fields albums (when they sometimes had female vocals). Also, the Caribou album is good and the Christine and the Queens EP that came out last week is much better than the dull but critically acclaimed Chris.

Still working through a lot of new stuff, will post more later...

Yeah, I kept trying with Chris cos of all the good reviews but found a lot of it weak
