New Music Releases Thread

If middle class dinner parties are playing track such as Next is the E or Feeling So Real then they sound incredible ?
Couple of lessons here for a few. Don't jump the gun, and also remember to separate the person from the music.

That's just as bonkers.

You chaps obviously didn't spend as much of the late 90s early 2000s at middle class diner parties with young professionals as I did

Moby was as ubiquitous as a goats cheese starter until they all got into Coldplay.

Perhaps if you'd spent less time at those shite shindigs and got out with the working class you'd not have made your mistake.

Edit. Just clicked. Do you think that's when Moby came about? Think you'll find you're close to a decade too late  (the spenks you were mixing with probably aren't aware of anything before late 90s. Wankers).

I stopped pretending to be working class or down with the kids a long time ago.

I am sure Moby did some fantastic stuff early in his career, but he will forever be remembered for his middle class friendly stuff from the late 90s early 2000s. IIRC The Observer gave away a free Moby CD sometime around then which was the soundtrack to endless dinner parties before Coldplay came to rule their world

The musical equivalent of a Jamie Oliver cookbook.

Go was a cracking track. That must have come out in the early 90's?

people who don’t really follow music may class him as that, in the same way they think New Order are known for football songs.

1992. His debut album it was on is superb start to finish.

There ya go then, you've admitted to being clueless, which goes hand in hand with your clueless conclusion. No harm done though.

I admitted to going to middle class dinner parties with young professionals in the 90s which isn't quite the same as being clueless

We are getting a bit close to Greedminds territory - endlessly insisting that Simple Minds are brilliant despite a string of awful albums

FWIW, early Simple Minds ie from Empires and Dance through to New Gold Dream is absolutely top notch.

Yes, but that doesn't really hide the fact that they became a by-word for pompous indulgent 80s stadium rock. In the same way that Moby's early works are overshadowed by his ubiquity in the late 90s early 2000s.

There are albums this week from Bachelor, Backxwash, Bent Arcana, Black Midi, Blackberry Smoke, DMX, k.d. Lang, Kele, Loscil, Lou Barlow, Moby, Penelope Trappes, The Datsuns, Cheval Sombre, Masayoshi Fujita and Caterina Barbieri.

Metacritic reckons Lana Del Rey is releasing an album (Rock Candy Sweet) on Tuesday. A quick google confirms this was true as of the back end of March.
Justin Sullivan solo album also

The new Decius EP is a cracker. Looking forward to hearing more from them. Think you'd enjoy it @mad cyril.
