It’s been buggered for a long long time, these stories aren’t new happenings. It’s gone on for years and will carry on happy at a sickening level

But the whole argument of the gun lot in America is that, rather than reducing the number of guns, we should just make sure they all the good people have them too so they can protect people if there is a shooting. Too early to tell for certain what's happened in this case but sounds like there's been a shooting, it's possible this lad has done exactly that (got his gun out to defend people) and they've shot him. It makes a mockery of the whole good guys with guns argument.

Whether the colour of his skin was a factor in the officer shooting him is open to debate, but it wouldn't be a surprise if an officer sees a black lad with a gun and automatically thinks "that'll be the shooter", the police force obviously did since they raised their statement before realising they made a mistake, you can't discount the idea that the colour of his skin might have been a factor there

Totally agree, all this good guys with guns is f***ing mad.
The OP is implying they shot him because he was black, they shot him because he was brandishing a pistol after there had just been a shooting.
 
Guns is ingrained in their culture, just like alcohol is in ours, you can't just produce an argument and expect people to fall in line, that's why America will always have guns and things like this will always happen.

No, I’m implying they shot him because he was black with a gun and they made assumptions based on that.

How about if all the ‘good guys’ have guns and they turn up to find a white bloke and a black bloke, each with a gun. Do they shoot both of them - assuming that one of them is the good guy but it’s safer to find out which one afterwards? Or do they shoot neither - even though they risk one of them being shot by whichever of them is the bad guy - who then might shoot at them? Or do they shoot the white guy? Or the black guy? Or maybe the bad guy is an Asian fella who’s hiding around the corner and both the black guy and the white guy are good guys. Or maybe it’s...

“Shoot em all. Let their gods sort em out” was on a lot of tee shirts ower there when I went three summers out of four in the mid 80s.

This. If for no other reason than, it makes the polices job so much more difficult. It makes it more likely that they will just shoot anyone with a gun.
