Got Friday off and going.
Two choices, either Barbel fishing on a private stretch of the Thames with paste and pellets or downstream on the wider stretch in a swim I used to fish as a kid.
Would fish a feeder under the willows on maggots.
Reckon the latter and will have a go on the Barbel stretch late September.

If it wasn’t for following Swindon this is what I would be doing more.
Just love it. No miserable fuckers in site, reminiscing on time past by and watching that tip sail away.
Spoilt for rivers down here.

Which part of the thames?I can virtually spit out of my window into the thames,saw a guy get a 15 Lb'ish barbel from a local stretch last year.

I fish next to her garden near the Fish Inn.
Seen her twice like and spoke once whilst loading the car up.
Very strange to say the least
Fished there all my life and originally from Harwell.
The Saxon Arms used to be a crazy pub like.

I really cant recomend fly fishing enough as a way to cleanse your soul and rest your mind

Watched the 1st series on the plane back from Seattle a couple of weeks back, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Why are the otters bastards.

Because they decimate fishing waters.
Cherwell, Windrush to name two here that have been completely wiped out of large and mid sized fish.
Both the Teme and Thames have equally suffered.

How could otters say the same? They can't speak and the fisheries they are decimating are catch and release, the anglers don't kill the fish.

Honestly as someone who has grown up on these waters it really is sad to see how the fish stocks are at breaking point.
River fishing is wonderful however the Carp puddles now appear the rage which in my opinion and taste is not for me.

They don't just eat them, they take chunks out and leave them on the bank.
