If he leaves/is fired he'll be back in a job come November once a PL team presses the panic button

Watford up next IMO
I think you could be bang on there. He’s great at creating a squad that is competitive enough to stay in the premier league but I think beyond that you need something else to push you on.

I don’t like the bloke but I wish England didn’t come in for him because that was our best chance of staying in the premier league. He’ll build a team that is hard to beat and he gets the best out of every player.

I’ll admit that I thought Moyes was the perfect replacement at the time but with hindsight he undid everything that allardyce had accomplished within a matter of weeks.

And a lot won't think that.
I quite admire them for wanting better and to see better football. If it doesnt work it doesn't work but at least they want to give it a go. Imo that's better than just accepting your place as best of the rest.

Coming from you I'm happy with that given you're not the brightest

I particularly enjoy your ratings threads.

Cheers Einstein :)

Wanting to be better is 100% what we all want. Surely that’s winning football matches though? Does the way you win really matter?
Are they winning football matches against the sides they want to compete against?
Allardyce is a good manager that's pretty clear. If you have ambitions to go to the next level and compete with the big lads is he the man to do it? Not imo.

Cheers Einstein :)
Nee bosh marra

I thought that Moyes would be the man for us too

Shows what I f***ing know

Everton have a bit of money but they have zero chance of regularly breaking into the top 4 in the next couple of years. They have very little chance of breaking into the top 6 as all 6 clubs up there have more money than Everton. The game is awash with money these days not like when Blackburn got a cash injection and could buy their way to the top. After steady progress over many seasons Spurs have now had 2 top 4 finishes. However, I wouldn't put my mortgage on them improving next season.

It's all very well being ambitious but things take time and Everton fans are deluded if they think much better than 7th is achievable. They are currently 8th after a very poor start to the season.

Many were against Sam from the off and can't see past that. After Koeman left this season was always going to be about Premier league survival and shoring up their position not great football and top 6. They are simply fooling themselves into thinking they can compete with the likes of Liverpool.

Tbh I’ve been happy with pretty much every appointment we’ve made. The only exception being Grayson last summer. I thought that was a genuine lack of ambition for a club our size and with hindsight, was a sign of things to come.

The thing is he was only ever wanted here by Moshiri for six months and he was the one that bent us over for an 18 month contract (presumably for a bigger pay-off) so during those six months he had to prove to Moshiri that he was the man for another season and he simply hasn’t.

Drawing with Bayern and beating Atletico isn’t a success or achievement mate.

Benitez would be a perfect fit if you're an accurate representation of your fanbase

He loves having 6 months off a year Big Sam.
So do I. But I can’t pick and choose when. And it doesn’t pay as well.

Maybe, I think a comfortable retirement is beckoning.
You’re probably right mate. He’s not getting any younger and working in a high stress environment. Surely he doesn’t need the coin or the aggro. I’ll be surprised if their lass doesn’t put her foot down after this job.

I think you only brought Allardyce in because your board were scared of the drop and went for a safe pair of hands. The money you spent in the summer should have pushed you on but Koemam totally wasted it on players that are mainly (Pickford and Keane aside) struggling to get a game. For a club that has been in the premier league throughout its existence, to finally have a bit of financial clout behind you, I think you’re entitled to want to compete with the top 6 of the league.

In the summer Everton spent about £120M on 4 players. Man Utd and Chelsea spent about half of that on 1 player and are starting out with far better squads than Everton too. They bought poorly but spending £30 - £40M on players is nothing unusual these days.

Aye and Rafa's getting the Accrington job...

We are in league One. How many more pathetic threads are we going to have linking Premier League managers with us?

I suspect a lot of people are going to be very disappointed when we do exactly what we should be doing in our position and appoint a lower league manager on a modest salary who knows the lower leagues.
This.

The delusions of grandeur that exist amongst some of our supporters never cease to amaze me.
Step outside the north east bubble and you'll find that nobody thinks we're anything other than a perennial yo yo club.

"A job"?
It was England manager FFS and it wasn't during a season.
Has he walked out on other clubs? If so I can't remember it...

I don't give a shit mate. Actually, in all honesty, in football for me always and been and will be greater and more important than national football. He walked out on us and messed up the opportunity due to his own character flaws. One of the reasons I'm falling out of love with football is the degree of protection that some fans gift teflon personalities like Allardyce.

What do everton fans really expect? Pi55 me off teams like that they could have went down this season if it wasnt for BSA he changed them. They arent a top 6 club so why expect more! They are a mid table type of premier club nothing more nothing less.

Nail on the head

They still spent over £20m on three players and £44m on another. If you’re spending that kind of money you expect to push on in the league. Imo Koeman built a squad where he couldn’t fit everyone in attacking wise and they were too one paced and predictable.
