Pointless even talking about Allardyce coming back here, really.

I think he’s a brilliant manager and would love him back, but there’s not a chance it would happen.

Brought in to save them from relegation, has them 8th. They’re 6th in the form table since his arrival.

I like Everton as a club, but I really hope this bites them on the arse. Whinging about playing style is sound if you’re Real Madrid, however football is about winning games.

Also there’s more chance of resurrecting Stokoe, than Sam coming back.

If anyone is actually interested in the reasons it’s not worked out for him and can put aside the job he did at Sunderland then here’s some of them I can see:

1) The football has been horrible. Doesn’t matter whether it wasn’t when he was at Sunderland. It has been here.

2) Following on from point 1, we’ve lost interest. We don’t threaten wins over the top teams (even at home the best we can hope for is a 0-0 Draw) and have been comfortably outplayed when we’ve lost.

3) This is his biggest club job and his opportunity to show it’s not all about him and he’s failed. Throws the players under the bus when results are negative and takes all the plaudits when they’re positive.

4) Disrespected the fans on numerous occasions. Batted away criticism as “15 fans on the internet” and laughed at fans when asked about any pressure.

5) We want to be better than 7th and/or win Silverware. Allardyce’s entire career suggests he isn’t capable of that. Don’t forget we only actually wanted him for six months. He played a blinder to make it an 18 month contract.

6) This is a minor and petty one. He keeps taking credit for a 4-0 win when he wasn’t even in charge against West Ham.

7) This is a big one. Serious question marks over what he can do with our young talents. Davies desperately needs to improve on the ball which won’t happen under Sam. Lookman was shipped out to Leipzig (Sam wanted him to go to Derby) and has tore it up whilst Sam preferred the dismal Bolasie. Calvert-Lewin and Holgate haven’t seen much game time either.

Worth saying that he wasn’t actually at your club for very long and you could easily have been fed up quickly with him yourselves had he stayed. As that’s what happened with O’Neill, Di Canio, Payet and Advocaat before him.

All valid points and Everton with their backers should be really pushing the top 6 clubs. I felt the same about the style when O’Neill was playing anti football from around halfway through his time at safc. Driving home with my 7 year old son thinking we literally have nothing positive to talk about that 0-0 draw v Swansea or whoever where there was almost zero goalmouth action. Horrendous.

You need to walk before you can run.

The thing is he was only ever wanted here by Moshiri for six months and he was the one that bent us over for an 18 month contract (presumably for a bigger pay-off) so during those six months he had to prove to Moshiri that he was the man for another season and he simply hasn’t.

Drawing with Bayern and beating Atletico isn’t a success or achievement mate.
How?

I can't get my head around this thinking tbh
We're used to being crap should we accept that's the norm or should we want to see better?

I think he’ll retire after this job. I don’t see what the motivation is of being a firefighter in the premier league for him any more. Unless of course a huge pay check comes along, then I think he’d jump at it.

I realise I might have answered my own question there.

I'd agree but I'm not sure who has said they have a right to success.
They have a right to give it a good go though. Imo Allardyce isn't the man to do that.
Friends with a couple of Everton fans they seem to think they have.

If he leaves/is fired he'll be back in a job come November once a PL team presses the panic button

Watford up next IMO

And a lot won't think that.
I quite admire them for wanting better and to see better football. If it doesnt work it doesn't work but at least they want to give it a go. Imo that's better than just accepting your place as best of the rest.

I have you and them in the clueless camp.
Coming from you I'm happy with that given you're not the brightest

I particularly enjoy your ratings threads.

Wanting to be better is 100% what we all want. Surely that’s winning football matches though? Does the way you win really matter?
