Las Vegas

Wicked Spoon isn’t that good now , it’s often included in room deals and free with the player points card and quality has suffered but there was a great deal on the bacchanal buffet at Caesars on groupon or similar when we went recently that gave you first queue jump and that was a lot better . The Sterling brunch for $100 ish is canny if you want to get wrecked on decent champagne but again the food isn’t that great.

Casino Royale is always good for a visit , used to be $1 muchelobs but $2 there and cocktail service is good there - tip to get decent spirits as the bog standard vodka is proper gut rot stuff. The cash machine is cheap in there too and their player card is worth signing up for too - think they give you your first $20 loss back

Recommendations from recent trips

Use Lyft , there’s loads of deals around for free rides when you join but beware of surge pricing

Brunch at the border grill , unlimited small plates to order and mimosas - great authentic Mexican scran. The one in Caesars closed the day after we went but if you’re south strip it’s worth a visit in Mandalay bay

Cut of the week at Charlie Palmer , think it’s bout $60 for three courses plus wine - again south strip though but taxi worth it

Tasting menu at china poblano in cosmopolitan , get the matching drinks for the salt air margherita alone - it’s amazing and the overall meal was best we had last trip , faultless

Chandelier bar in Cosmo , ask for a verbena cocktail , it’s off menu but worth it to try the buzz button

Don’t bother with Hell’s Kitchen it’s very average for the money

Aterlier de joel robouchon in MGM very reasonably priced set menu in a high end setting , sit at the bar and watch the food being prepped but it can be a bit intimidatingly upscale

Spanish tasting menu at Jaleo in Cosmo - cracking atmosphere and food but go in hungry , by the end we were so ready for them to stop bringing out more food

Burger at in and out has to be done - topper

Go to the bar that’s outside as you enter the mirage and get the sharing volcano cocktail - lethal

Eat on the terrace at mon ami gabi , great location for people watching and view of fountains at belagio if you go in the evening - the warm baguettes they give you are perfection but more recently it’s been brunch visits vs evening meals

If you like Thai food take a Lyft to lotus of Siam - it looks nowt from outside just a strip mall place but the food is incredible

Think that’s it for now - bollocks I wasn’t going to book for next year but writing this has made me really need to visit again !

Fuck. You have done loads and now I want to go back - the Rumba outside Mirage is mega.

As part of my on going 40th celebrations it turns out we are heading here in a couple of weeks. Haven't been for nearly 10 years. Any recommendations for things to do/see? Cheers.

Edit: Noticed the resort tax or whatever you call it has rocketed up somewhat. f***ing scandalous.
Where you staying? It’ll be absolutely baking. Defo check out Heart Attack Grill at Fremont. We got taxis everywhere first couple of days and only on last day we got the bus that runs length of strip to Fremont - cheap and easy to use.

We didn’t pay any resort tax that I can remember. That was 6 years ago mind. I vaguely recall the lass from Virgin who we booked with saying it was included in Virgin holidays.

Haven't read the whole thread. Download the Lyft app for taxis. Much cheaper and there are also some discount codes knocking about.
Piano bar, irish bar and Coyote ugly bar are all decent in new york new york hotel.
Michael Jackson tribute act in stratosphere is excellent.
Bus tour is worth doing.
Eggslut in cosmopolitan hotel for breakfast.
Decent bars on the street down to the high roller eye thing.
The D Casino on freemont street has erotic dancers on on while you gamble.

By christ it's expensive for drink out of happy hour times mind. 9 dollars a beer pretty much the norm in the main places. Fremont street is good crack, the bus is spot on and doubles as a tour bus really. It's been 40 degrees every day which is barmy like. We both played a bit black jack and probs lost about 80 dollars between us.

9/10 would do again.

1 mark off for Americans not owning one indoor voice between the howers.

Heart Attack Grill is one of the worst meals I’ve ever had in my life, it was a laugh though.

Anyone been to the Neon Boneyard? I came across it the other day and I really want to go when me and our lass go out there next month but she’s not keen on the idea like.

Good price that mate. We flew premium with Virgin and have had 5 nights in NYNY for 550 quid between us. ;)

Not this time sadly as it was full up. Done it a few times tho. It's class but nowhere near worth what it would otherwise cost.
Knocks KLM and Air France business into a cocked hat

Never done the Vegas route but did the Lagos route a few times and ended up in a right bonny state on the Virgin Upper class cabin.

stay away from the strip for decent prices.
My fav' casino south point has $2 beers at all bars until 8.00pm and then its $3.50
Their steakhouse does a 16oz ribeye on the bone $30 inc salad or soup starter and they do house wine at $20 a bottle.
Lunch at the buffet is 8$ ( with club card) eat as much as you want.
Down fremont st , try the "second st " grille in the fremont hotel , same prices as above,
theres loads more places, behind bally's, try "Ellis island" casino ( local haunt), they have their own micro brewery on site , large selection of draught beers $3 a pint and the barbrque ribs are awesome.
I could go on all night my favourite city.

So £275 each for premium economy flights and 5 nights accommodation? With Virgin?
jeez , I just had a quote off virgin for the two of us in premium £2600.
Thomas Cook want £2100 premium.
