I have the feeling we’ve seen the best of Stokes. Looks a busted flush to me.
Think you need to have a look at the meaning of the phrase, because if you think Stokes is a busted flush you clearly don’t understand it.

check post #42The OP criticised his captaincy not his batting.![]()
It’s relative though surely? If England think Leach is the best spinner they have then he plays every test. He wasn’t the reason England were bowled out for 147 which is why we’re miles behind in the game
Bess on each cheekOk. Seeing as you have such an in depth knowledge of cricket.
Who are these ass lickers he picks all the time ?
It’s relative though surely?
We have a very good seam attack enough that we could leave Anderson and Broad out of the side and still have good seamers.
When Leach plays that means a very good bowler ( a better bowler than him is left out of the side)
There has to become a point if you best spinner is a poor spinner and you have very good seam bowlers that you consider leaving him out?
Especially when this side has Root who could turn his arm over.
You dead right of course he was not at fault for 147 all out, but going for over a 100 of the overs he bowled is horrendous figures for a test match and I certainly would not be against keeping the same seam attack as this test match adding Anderson to it and dropping Leach with Root been the spin option.
In fact personally think that the best way to go
If only you checked post #1check post #42![]()
You mean the Bess who isn’t playing in the current game…? That Bess?Bess on each cheek
Why would you post this?Looking forward to him notching up his first tonight.
Brisbane has almost always been a spinners pitch on days 4 and 5. I think Warne has a better record there than anywhere else in the world. Scoring 147 in the first innings hasn’t helped but Leach might yet play a part. But it isn't a spinners pitch. He hadn't played any cricket whatsoever for three months. It made no sense whatsoever to play him.
Don’t think you can grasp what Im trying to say. The phrase is perfect. Look it up and even you will agree it suits.Think you need to have a look at the meaning of the phrase, because if you think Stokes is a busted flush you clearly don’t understand it.
Well of course I agree fully, but surely that does not mean always picking a sub standard spinner.Depends if Stokes can bowl or not, if he can then we don’t need 5 quick bowlers. If England have any aspirations of becoming a top test side then they need a spinner
Tbf mate, I have been banging the drum for a few years that all our spinners are poor, and picking one of our spinners means when we have a fully fit team, a excellent pace bowler is left out of the side to accommodate a poor spinner.some nonsense on this thread like
same posters a few months ago slagging off root for not picking a spinner are now critcising him for picking a spinner
he had to pick a spinne in Australia like, you select a team for 5 days not just for the bit of grass on day 1.
Lyon proved that today
it was also the right decision to bat, we just did it poorly
I find this place frustrating as the exact same posters would have criticised him if we picked 4 seamers and got beat
just revionsim, and waiting till the game goes wrong then making judgements
they said absolutely nothing abot this at the toss![]()
Stokes will end his career as one of England’s (if not world cricket’s) greatest ever allrounders. He’s 31, he’s still got some talent left to go yet.Yeah make sure you do

Yes, but few injuries here and there and some time away with mental issues tooStokes will end his career as one of England’s (if not world cricket’s) greatest ever allrounders. He’s 31, he’s still got some talent left to go yet.
Ben Stokes is once in a generation cricketer.Stokes will end his career as one of England’s (if not world cricket’s) greatest ever allrounders. He’s 31, he’s still got some talent left to go yet.
Gabba's a seamers wicket. Spin averages 53 there. Gary getting 4 wickets is as much an indictment on our batting.some nonsense on this thread like

Apart from him been very talented he is the one cricketer when the pressure is on and something is needed in them big moments in games that you want on your team!!

Totally agree. But all I’m saying he’s past his best. But that’s only my opinion.Stokes will end his career as one of England’s (if not world cricket’s) greatest ever allrounders. He’s 31, he’s still got some talent left to go yet.
If we do the figures for 2021 I bet were at least 4 times the Aussies. You must be logged on to see media items
