Gigs back at sol

She might get in then - gutted

Have had to use it at a couple of gigs over the years myself (Muse and Iron Maiden, that I recall). I don't mind it TBH and if it cuts down on touting then fair cop.

Is it not just a case the buyers name is on the ticket & as long as they have ID they get let it. Obviously the credit card doesnt have a photo on it so if buyer doesnt go, then will have to pass card to others. Tickets dont show card details.

Thats been the case for gigs ive been to when they're coming down hard on the touts.

Seems to vary from gig to gig, different promoters will have different ideas I guess.

I've been to a couple where there wasn't a ticket issued, Muse at the Barrowlands in 2015 and Iron Maiden at the o2 Arena in 2013 and Aberdeen arena in 2017, they put your card into a card reader machine and that let you in - they didn't ask for photo ID though.

Iron Maiden in Aberdeen this year, same again, no ticket issued, just rock up with the credit card.

I’ve been to 3 gigs at SOL, and every time the queue for metros towards Newcastle has been at least an hour. It’s a shambles.
So what, I've been to gigs at Sheffield arena which holds 10,000 not up to 55,000 like the sol, where it took over an hour to get on the team into Sheffield city centre.

Why not just head across the bridge for a couple of pints then walk straight on the metro with no queues?

Some people just love to find a reason to complain. Just use a bit of ingenuity to try and avoid major queues.

I have it on authority that the concerts did net a profit but it was a ridiculously small profit given the names we attracted, and demonstrative of what a shit job Hutchison did that the profit, such as it was, was so small.

I’ve never claimed to be ITK on anything when it comes to SAFC but this is from a cast iron unimpeachable source. The pitiful net gain was entirely down to GH botching the whole thing.

Same source said the night before the league cup final GH was in London with all the top dogs out on the lash. He insisted on going to the casino and got bladdered and left his jacket in there ... with everyone’s tickets for the match. Had to go knocking on the door of the casino early the next morning and luckily found a cleaner who let them in to retrieve jacket and tickets. The useless gonk.

I heard that as well. Not the tickets bit but the bit about the concerts being badly run

It was a good idea but as usual The Hair and the others didn't organise it correctly and so we missed a good opportunity.

It's a shame Sunderland doesn't have a proper music venue mind.

I see Jack Colback is on tour at the shit tip currently.

Riveting.
As smooth north east called it yesterday a “residence” at st James park. Yes 3dates on the bounce is a good effort. However when people play 10gigs a week for 2 year in Vegas I find that more like a residence.

I’d rather eat a steaming turd than watch ed Sheeran to be honest

Enjoy ya day out in sid james
Got tickets for Ed Sheeran for our daughter on Sunday and me and the wife are arguing over who has to accompany her. I will win that argument and she'll have to take her as I wear the trousers in our house (she doesn't have access to this site)

My stepdaughter was there last night. Glad I wasn't there to accompany her not that I dislike Ed Sheeran but I just couldn't bring myself to step foot in Newcastle let alone their stadium. Haven't been there since the 1990 play iff semi final but have to go to Newcastle next month for my daughter's post graduation. I will be going with gritted teeth

Hope you enjoy the show mate. ;)
:lol::lol::lol:

Sting has apparently written a musical/rock opera called The Llast Ship and was going to perform it at Spillers Wharf in Newcastle this weekend. The gig was cancelled a couple of days ago with the promoter blaming the management company and vice versa: however, it is thought that of 15,000 tickets available only 3,000 had been sold.
I saw that in Birmingham it was very good. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Each to there own but these concerts bring in big money to Newcastle city, the buzz around the place yesterday was great, fantastic weekend for folk right in the heart of the fantastic Newcastle and he is the hottest act in the UK .Not my cup of tea as i dont like big stadium gigs.

Fair point, it is a concern that someone as talentless as Sheeran can create a buzz mind you and doesnt say alot for a former capital of culture wannabe.

As for the money, if you are daft enough to pay north of 70quid to see Ed you must have more money than sense

It was the same in Sunderland.

Not a fan of him at all. But he’s not talentless.
