Full body offside rule

A bloke who “I never seen it” most of the time while manager in the premier league now making the offside rule up…since when did he make the rules?

Doesn't stop the issue at all, just kicks the can further down the road...probably find teams will defend deeper too, just don't see the point of it, still be long reviews while the VAR are looking for daylight!

This will be the final nail in the coffin for football as we know it. Means the defence are going to be yards deeper than they already are now. It’s going to be an absolute shambles

I’m not a fan of the ‘daylight’ rule but the whole point is to give the attacker an advantage.

So changing where the line is does make a difference.
Attacker's will have an advantage but it won't stop the arguments. The line still has to be drawn.

Aye - but will be less controversial because they’ve already had a massive advantage anyway. Whereas at the minute it’s incredibly harsh.

Not that I’m a fan of daylight btw, should be judged on feet.

Whats wrong with it just being a good view rather than checking the exact millimetere someone is off by? No specific measurement just a 'is he blatantly offside or not?' Judgement?

Will be an absolute mess to try to officiate for linesmen with body parts forward and back, rather than looking across a line with a clear view on 1 side.

Surely they must have realised that come free kicks, the attacker can now stand goal stand with a trailing foot keeping him onside. In fact, even during play an attacker can stay tight against a defender while being goal side but still onside and get a head start against the defender.

This trial they're doing in Canada with the stupid daylight rule suggestion from Wenger won't see the light of day in football 😉

And after all that above, people will still moan that the attackers heel is keeping him onside against the defender's big toe. All they're doing is moving the line all while making it even harder to officiate it!

Nigh on impossible
If they were going to change the offside rule, it would make more sense to judge attackers feet vs defenders feet imo. Much easier to measure the positions of the same body parts than armpit vs knee or sleeve vs forehead. This full body rule just seems ridiculous.
I thought this would be best as well until I read through some previous posts on here which have now put doubt there. I mean how does the linesman just feet being offside.

It ends up the same, except it isnt the leading shoulder but the trailing one.

"Is that a full body or does his elbow lag behind the last defender?"

Whereever you set the line it will be a matter of inches with this system. A yard between? Oh I think that's 35 inches...let's check. Hold on five minutes

It'll still be controversial as players will still be a cm offside. It's just drawn in a different place.

People just need to learn to accept there always had to be a line and there will always be judgement calls. Just grow up and accept it. Still better than days where people a mile offside score and it’s allowed or obviously onside goals being cancelled. My only issue is it needs to be faster checking
Oh for the days people will grow up and accept judgement calls.

Will have been no need for VAR and the game better for it if people could do that

Happy to give it a whirl and see how it goes. These offsides by an arm pit aren't within the spirit of why the rule was brought in in the first place.

I know people will say it's still a line, but at least this way if you're off you'd be very off according to the current law.

Could be a disaster like so we'll see how it goes.

Their will always be judgement calls. VAR in its essence is fine, correct big mistakes but as with anything people want perfection so var gets more and more intrusive, which just leads to more complaints
