If we are playing broad and Anderson, there’s absolutely no need for Woakes in my opinion.

Ali's dismissal! He's a walking wicket at the moment. The first sign of any form by another spinner and his days are numbered.

Both.

It didn't look like a swinging day but the ball did swing at least for the first half of the day, ie during the England innings and the first part of the NZ. The pitch also seemed to seam a bit.

Some very poor shots, bit of swing and batsmen reaching out for the ball rather than playing late, driving early in the innings with massive gaps between the bat and pad, playing shots on the move, Ali missed a full toss. Just a complete implosion along with NZ getting a little bit of swing.

The point is that we need variation in the attack regardless of the conditions. Yet again the selection has been poor

Both. But also a case of pathetic batting making the attack look better than it was.

If that batting had been up against Ambrose in the above video, it wouldn't even have reached double figures.
