England vs India (fourth test) The Oval

Right, what are we doing for OT then?

Burns
Hameed
Malan
Root
Pope
Bairstow
Woakes
Wood
Robinson
Parkinson
Anderson

if Robinson and Anderson are fit. Long tail I know, but needs must

I’d probs play Leach/Parkinson over Ali but it won’t happen

Agree with this.

Yes it’s a long tail, but we need to stop picking players because they can ‘do a bit of both’ and simply select our best players for each role in the side, and Moeen Ali is not the best spin option

bowling bigger issue here

he’s an average Captain like, in terms of tactics

very very very defensive

It was both in this test (and the fielding). But the recurring failure is with the bat. You yourself were saying how flat the track was, we shouldn’t have been dismissed for a cumulative total of 500 over two knocks.

Buttler was very good last summer and Bairstow hasn’t been terrible this series. I don’t mind if they want to change things after this series but with the players available I’d go with that
26.2 isn’t terrible I guess, but it’s not brilliant.

let’s be clear on buttler, he played 2 very good knocks against Pakistan. But aside from that he’s done little. He’s got 4 scores of over 50 since the start of the Ashes in 2019

I’ll await to be told I have an agenda again

Both Buttler and Bairstow have now had enough opportunities to prove they’re good enough in red ball cricket and they aren’t. I’m not buying that 30 is the going rate for a keeper batsman. They’re both batsmen who keep, not vice versa.

Sad thing is they’re probably still in our current 7 best.

(Absolute superstars in the shorter format mind)

You have an agenda int he sense that you pick on them 2 every test, regardless of the performance of others.
On this series, India won the vital moments but England been on top for large periods of both their losses

Could have been so different with the likes of Stokes and Archer in

gonna keep hammering this point, imagine Stokes in those key moments on day 2, day 3 and day 4.

Same at Lords

We werent far from winning.

30 ducks in 8 tests against India this year.

Feels like we are going round in circles a bit. Hugely inconsistent test side and always return to the likes of Bairstow and Ali as there’s limited other options. No Leach is puzzling again.

i have no agenda at all. They have managed one fifty all summer between them. That’s not an agenda, it’s pointing out fact.

i will also criticise others. And I do

I dont think I am wrong saying you talk about them more than our top order, which is clearly the bigger issue

Our leading wicket taker, Robinson, probably wouldn't have played if these two were available.

If my auntie had balls etc. We had a good team available even without these two.

Not good enough, sorry like but we arent a good enough team to miss 2 of our world class players, no shame in saying that.

We've had them on the ropes on 3 out of the 4 tests

we have just missed the killer edge that some lads would provide us

they've got much more depth than us, which they should have really lets face it.

I swear you moan about archer half of the time

I think he bowled poorly last year like, but we've missed him massively, just need that point of difference

Him n Stokes 2 of our best cricketers lets be honest, we dont have much red ball depth like.

Not an excuse, just a reality of our red ball talent.

We have decent depth in bowling he would have played ahead of Robinson who has been class
