Spent millions under Drumaville and debts piled up...Quinny met Short who pumped in a quick £30m ?? to keep things going...
Trouble was we bought too many players and ended up with 13 on loan when Keane was sacked...even he said we had too many in the end.
25 man squad rule came in and we needed to dump them....but we needed this in any case as the wage bill was around 75% of the turnover leaving us with nowt to spend apart from Short giving us a few bob.
Bruce and Mon tried to balance things but quality was needed...if only we'd added one or two quality signings a season it might have helped...
This summer they thought all the out of contract players would be sold off....but we're still playing them as there were no takers...eg Vaughan Bardsley etc.
No idea where Short gets his info from but its just about knackered now unless we win 10 games out of 30.
Looks like a clearout next summer wherever we are...

So basically what you're saying is that it's the fault of the Drumaville Murphia, they're the one's that came then cut and run leaving us in the brown stuff, if this is true, by association it's the fault of Niall Quinn, nee wonder Short gave him the bullet.

Drumaville had no money left...so we are told and brought Short in....hes kept it going but where he gets the advice I've no idea.
The amount of players we have signed in the last 8 years is around 80....thats the problem...theres been no plan apart from get a few more in next summer.

Tell you what i cant comprehend...

Quinn boasted that Short abused Crouch at a game after he turned us down. Quinnys way of proving Shorts passion.

4 years on you have short condoning the inclusion of a plodder who has taken the piss out of the club/fans twice, once over a painful defeat.

I very much doubt and really hope he isn't involved in team selection. Maybe he should have sacked him!

don't see many other clubs doing this.[DOUBLEPOST=1382266711][/DOUBLEPOST]simple fact is, replacing quality players with shite has put us in this position.

replacing mignolet with a free transfer championship keeper in westwood, that was aquired by bruce was one nail in the coffin.

replacing danny rose with a player that has come up through our ranks, and is not a left back, and nowhere near the quality of rose, is another nail.

selling sessegnon, and keeping plodders like vaughan, gardner and larsson on our books....

when di canio was here, he asked for a good english central midfielder, who is good at passing the ball, and we know who that was, did we get him? no, we thought he was asking for too much wages. hulls gain...

then there's players that were bought and are not getting a game, like cabral, 3 managers so far have ignored him. so a player playing for a decent team like basle in the champions league is not considered better than vaughan, gardner and larsson? give the fuck ower! what the fucks going on there?
then there's diakite who can't get a game, who looked ok to me, then mavrias, or ba.

Good post.

I believe he has spent around £100 million since he has been here which is around 4 or 5yrs? That may sound like alot of money to me and you but it isn't enough I'm afraid, not at this level. He should of bought a Championship club if he didn't want to dig deep, he should be spending that sort of money every 2 yrs at least not every 4 or 5.

Other way round. We borrowed Rose to play in a position we didn't have any quality. We couldn't afford to keep him/Spurs didn't want to sell him.

Did we or did we decide we couldn't afford to pay those wages after other players were brought in in different positions and we couldn't shift some of the sh*te we had on our books?

I fail to see how that's Short. He's employed a manager/Head Coach to be in charge of team affairs and a DoF to work over him. You can question whether they have been the right appointments but you can't blame him for team selection

Question the Head Coach(s) rather than Short.

I think quite a few clubs do this.

Again many of those are footballing decisions mostly wrong ones. Not to do with investment by Short. Other than the wages this summer which we have no choice about.

There's too much business focus in that boardroom. And the bloke he employed to oversee recruitment is a football agent ffs, most likely lining his and his cronies pockets by buying all of this out of contracts dross. Don't get me started on Byrne. What the fuck does she do/know???

The thing is when Quinn was in sole charge there was barely any business model, hence the open cheque book policy which led to ludicrous contracts/transfer fees for bang average footballers. Obviously this has had a knock on effect for the current regime.

The whole structure of the club is inherently fucked. What an utter mess.

Can't disagree with anything you say, Short gets off far too lightly in my opinion, as you say Bob Murray was villified on this board mercilessly during his tenure ( wrongly imo ), not sure what good slagging Short would achieve, but he deserves some for his inept overseeing of our rapidly sinking ship.
One of Murrays many problems was a complete lack of charisma, due to chronic shyness apparently.

Question the Head Coach(s) rather than Short.

so we could not find a decent left back anywhere? the worlds a massive place mate.

and as for the shite like larsson, gardner and vaughan, yes, maybe we could not get rid of them, but we still should have bought quality until we could have got shot of them. otherwise its a relegation model, which he is now finding out to his cost by not doing so.

we can blame him for appointing a dof who does not seem to have a clue.
