Durham’s T20 Campaign

How about this for an XI for Wednesday
Clark
Jones
Raine
Bedingham
Bushnell
Robinson
Doneathy
Coughlin
Carse
Trevaskis
Dissell.

I know Raine didn't work the last time as a pinch hitter but as he is batting at 10 it doesn't really matter if he comes off twice in the rest of the tournament it's probably worth it.
It still looks very lightweight but as least some players are getting an opportunity.
Might as well give it a go. We'll know by 11am on Wednesday what sort of team we intend to field

He should be dropped.

No he shouldn’t

Drissel, Robinson and Ned should be dropped

I just can’t fathom anyone picking drissell

What’s the point? He’s not a Durham lad he’s just someone passing through

Let's just play local lads doesn't matter how good they are

He's gone for over 90 runs in 7 overs, that is poor, he needs to be dropped.

I appreciate and agree your views on the Durham/Local lad thing which is why I would like to see the likes of Bushnell, Doneathy, Crawhsaw given game time and I still think Mckintosh should be ahead of Robinson, again to promote youth development but hey ho.

Borthwick for me doesn't warrant a place in the side at the moment

Drissel's figures for 2nds T20 are very respectable, McIntosh doesn't even keep wicket in NEPL so maybe he's more of a batter than a W/k. Playing Ned and not having him keep wicket is a logic only Franklin can explain. I'm all for giving local youth it's chance but I'm afraid that route appears to be closed under the current regime.

Im sure they are mate, but he aint the present or future for Durham like,

We have a couple of raw lads, some may freeze, some may star, its worth ago.

I just dont see the point in what we are doing, we wont go far with the current team, so why not try n develop a few

Ive held back on the criticism of Franklin n co, but I've not been impressed with their thought process to this

I dont take T20 massively seriously so I am not to angry or out just feels like we are missing a trick

We only need 2 spinners in my opinion therefore Trev and Drissell should be the spin options. Bushnell will also be knocking on the door along with Crawshaw.

4 - raine
4 - carse
4 - trev
4 - coughlin
4 - drissell

Doneathy will be knocking on the door soon and can offer some bowling option, he didn't let us down last season and I'd have him in ahead of Eckersley.

Clark is an emergency spin bowler also.

Nah, all good t20 sides have a MINIMUM of 3.

No good only going into a game with 5 bowlers either, if one of them goes wrong you’ve got no alternative.

Don't know enough about Mackintosh behind the stumps but he also didn't keep wicket for Scotland u19s in the world cup during the winter which I was surprised at.
fuck knows mate, but I see very little upside in signing ollie robinson on loan personally
They are so short of numbers they probably had to bring someone in. They probably can't sign anyone from the Northern group and had to scout around down south.
As has been spoken about on here before a ball was bowled Durhams squad is very small. 3 players taken away for international duty and their Aussie overseas crocked has left them with very few options.

Well theyve explored every option other than playing some of their own academy lads

Yeah that's why I put two in the XI for Wednesday. No point playing too many in the same game they could get destroyed and that's doing nobody any good.

I suspect they wont though, also its T20, have a slog, whats the worst than can happen, they get out 1st ball? I dont think its gonna destroy their confidence like

We had 3 spinners playing today and didn't bother using one of them having dragged him 200 miles south after playing yesterday, when we had alternative players already with the squad
