Durham’s T20 Campaign

We should just field Hetton Lyons 1st XI. They'd get beat but full of mlfs so might keep Johnson happy.

You post some weird shit like

Yesterday moaning about Durham not bowling Matty Potts into the ground like  as some sort of ECB conspiracy

The whole point of Durham is to promote local talent, we've been through and we;ve already proved you were wrong about that too

That isn’t a reason to drop the third spin option.

Well if we aren't going to use him when things are going shit like today, what is the point having a 3rd option? Borthwick has gone for over 90 runs in 7 overs. We've dragged a lad down to Birmingham a late notice, he didn't bat or didn't bowl, quite staggering really how incompetent we are at the moment on and off the field, it's alarming

Well theyve explored every option other than playing some of their own academy lads

That’s not strictly true, we’ve had Academy lads in every lineup so far this year - further to that point, I have absolutely no doubt at all that the club have plenty of credit in the bank on the ‘giving homegrown talent a go’ stakes.

On Robinson, time will tell, but people on this thread have bemoaned a lack of hitting power and this kid has a proven track record at this level - which is obviously one up on the unproven lads in the Academy who haven’t yet had a go.

I’m playing devils advocate, I’m neither for or against Robinson - ultimately I don’t know enough about him.

I think we have to trust the management on this one for now though, because as I’ve already mentioned, we’ve got a very good record of blooding local talent when the time is right. The way I’m taking it at present is simply that the time isn’t quite right at this moment in time to throw anyone else into the mix.

I suspect by the end of the campaign, the majority of lads people are talking up will have had that opportunity anyway.

You’re asking the wrong bloke. My point still stands though, every T20 side worth their salt will have a minimum of 3 spin options.

cant agree with this mate sorry

I definitely got ahead of myself after the win over Leicestershire. I’m not too bothered about this format but it would be good to win as it’s the one competition we’ve drawn a blank in.

I've sent an e-mail regarding lack of communication with members to Sam Blacklock who's listed as having responsibility for PR. I addressed it Dear Sir and now realise Sam is probably female. Not a good start!
Received prompt response from Sam Blackwell, thanking me for my enquiry which " I have passed on to the senior management team".
That'll be goodbye to that then.

Is that it? Or are you going to explain your working? Cause I said a lot of things there which are irrefutable facts, so I’m interested to know what parts you don’t agree with.

Ha, No they aren’t, you’re starting to sound like me mate, they’re just your opinion

The club should be playing promising local talent ahead of signing wicket keepers on loan and playing the likes of George drissell

I don’t think the club have backed enough, they did in the 50 over stuff when Franklin left

Just my opinion like. No problem the likes of Dickson, lees, Bedingham playing

But I draw the like when you are scraping around just to pick middling pros who have no real future here, you won’t convince me that a local lad should not have been playing over either Robinson or Ned

No.

When I said “we’ve had Academy lads in every lineup so far this year.”

That was a fact. Not opinion. Fact. I think the lowest number of homegrowns we’ve had in any one team this year is 7.

Not bad that. Not bad at all.

As to the rest of your post, I agree with most of it, but the club MUST compete. This is a massive moneyspinner for the club and whether we agree with that or not, they have to try and maximise it. Playing a load of kids and getting mullered every game won’t get bums on seats.

In other words sod off and mind your own business

We're currently playing senior players and getting mullered every week

1 win in 7 red ball
1 win in 3 white ball

I think crediting Franklin and North for Carse and Stokes is slightly optimistic!

Why would they get mullered?

You think playing Drissell and Ned is a money spinner? I couldnt agree with you less.

As I said, if they are picking good players, no problem but they arent, they are filling spots with senior pros as they dont wanna play anyone else

no upside to playing them 2 at all, none whatsoever

We are also playing a lot of younger players
Every single one of those players are senior players who started yesterday on full time professional contracts. I don't class them as "younger players". When I say "younger players" i mean the likes of Crawshaw, Doneathy, Bushnell, for example, lads who have very little first team cricket at any level for Durham.

Jones first season playing t20 drissel younger player

Both are on full time professional contracts. I'll agree on Drissell but not Jones, he's a senior player for the club now. With regards to Drissell as I've said he was sent down to Birmingham at late notice having played on Saturday only for him not to bat or bow, I can't for the life of my fathom out the logic and reasoning behind that.

See what happens on Wednesday, changes need to be made
