DNECL 2022

20. Played Tudhoe twice this season and they're probably the best bowling attack in the league. Belmont only had one batsman scoring runs for them.
Fair play, still 4 an over with 6 wickets in hand doesn't sound too much, obviously without looking at the calibre of the remaining batsmen......

Yeh that's the problem it doesn't account for any context. In a random game I'd say that's slightly in favour of the batting side. Knowing a bit more about the two sides involved I'd have been amazed if Belmont chased that down

Totally agree mate but the rules can't take into context what you've got left in the shed, 80 runs off 20 overs with 6 wickets in hand will always favour the batting side......I can't see how that's gonna change......??
Good title / promotion game coming up this weekend in division 5, Brandon 2nds v Kimblesworth......

3 teams pushing for promotion with Mainsforth being the 3rd including the aforementioned 2 teams......

I'd probably prefer it to just be used to set a target rather than after a games been abandoned. Suppose no one will ever agree like

Yes I'll be keeping an eye on the division 5 promotion race over the next couple weeks!

Tbf though you can’t expect a system that is a general system to cover all games and all teams to take that account.

These things are arguably quite clever, but there will never be that clever.

Div 1 - Brandon need just 5 points to secure the league title this weekend
Dawdon looked dead and buried but Marsden have picked up a few results and face 3rd bottom Hylton, a win for Marsden would make things very close and drag Ryhope back into the relegation battle, defeat and Marsden are probably down too.

Div 2 - Mainsforth have battered everyone and are league winners. Boldon CA, Tudhoe and Evenwood are all in a very tight battle for the 2nd spot. Advantage Boldon CA at the moment however they have played one more game than both other teams.

Relegation wise less than 25 points split a rejuvenated Hunwick, Durham City 2nds, Murton, Bill Quay and Langley & Bear Park. All to play for.

Div 3 - Horden have been promoted and will likely be joined by Beamish this weekend who will need just 6 points. The title looks like going down to the final game of the season where both teams face one another.

Relegation wise 7 teams still fighting to stay away from the bottom 3. Boldon CC 2nds, Easington and Marsden 2nds making up the relegation 3 places, Ryhope 2nds and Silksworth just outside with then a bit of a gap to South Hetton and South Sheilds who could get dragged into it.

Personally don't think DL calcs works at this level either as generally pitches are poorly covered and more affected when rain comes, then there is the outfeilds which always slow down dramatically as unlike the pros there isn't many tools to mop up the water too so the team batting 2nd will now be at a big disadvantage.
But still fairer than the current shambles.

Sounds like all the leagues are approaching a decent finish, which is good for all concerned. Lots still to be decided.

How many games left?

Re Div 2 Tudhoe still have both the CA & Evenwood to play in their last 2 games, should be a really good end

That should say 2 for others

Wearmouth are pretty much promoted despite losing on Saturday. Looks between them and Beamish for the title only Belmont could really cause an upset to that.

Silksworth and Horden Prop up the division.
Wooden spoon for silky then? Not great. Hopefully their junior set up starts to provide players soon enough.

never took much notice of this league, but just looking online and they have 6 divisions. impressive numbers that
Cracking decision from the Durham Cricket League to amalgamate with the North Eastern League 👏 Obviously strengthens the League but allows one team clubs, those in decline to hopefully bounce back, clubs to find their level and promotion/relegation.👍

Just reading up and taking notice of the teams. Find it a bit odd that Spennymoor play in the Darlington league yet Tudhoe play in the Durham league

Reading up on the Darlington league, can imagine it's a lovely venue to watch cricket at Raby Castle.

Even with the old Durham County League containing near neighbours Tudda, Mainsforth,Willington, Shildon etc Spenny played in the Darlo League.

On a club cricket related note. I'm at the Bradford league T20 final tonight, if it ever gets going. Game delayed due to sun being too low (the ground we're at has lights so can play until whenever but I have a train to catch at 10). Cricket really doesn't help itself. Why not just bowl from the end away from the sun while it sets? Or am I missing something?

This must be a known issue at this ground. Surely they should have chose an alternative venue for a midweek final.
